i heard a fox news radio commentator reference this report a couple days ago:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20061207/us_nm/christmas_greetings_poll_dc

Quote :
"The majority of Americans surveyed - 95 percent - said they were not offended by a "Merry Christmas" greeting in stores, according to a poll by Zogby International.

However, 32 percent of respondents said they took offense at "Happy Holidays," the religiously neutral alternative promoted over the last few years as inclusive and inoffensive."

1) hmm, and 32% of people approve of GWB right now too..... conincidence?
2) i would like to see the results of that survey from 10 years ago, or even 3-4 years ago before Fox News started all this War on Christmas bullshit. I bet you 10 years ago, people hear "Happy Holidays" and think nothing of it. Now we've been convinced that somehow Happy Holidays is an anti-religious, secular, nasty thing to say.

That's fucking retarded.

They didn't let the person say it, it just fucking happened. The Christian persecution complex is getting [old]er than the TWW practice of putting brackets around the word old.

Headline: Americans favor 'Merry Christmas'

"Meanwhile, some retailers have lightened up on secular leanings. Wal-mart, Target, Kohl's, Macy's and others are vigorously embracing Christmas this year after previous bans [emphasis added] of the 'C-word' resulted in several public relations disasters."

http://www.washingtontimes.com/national/20061130-121135-3010r.htm

According to the Washington Times, there have, in fact, been bans on "Merry Christmas" by some retailers. I'd say denials that this is happening are [OLD].

^ PS:

"There are some partisan differences, though. The survey by Rasmussen Reports found that 85 percent of Republicans prefer 'Merry Christmas,'compared with 61 percent of Democrats. 'The growing trend of political correctness runs against the tide of popular opinion,' the survey of 1,000 adults stated. It was conducted Nov. 18-19 with a margin of error of three percentage points."

How often do people need to say Merry Christmas? Are you supposed to say it the entire month of December? Here I thought Merry Christmas was the salutation used on Christmas

It saddens me that we so often forget about the oldest Christians this time of year, the Orthodox and Armenians.

Why don't you all just do everyone a comedic favor and phrase your future complaints about this shit thusly:

"Help help I'm being oppressed!"

I went to my little brother's christmas pagent thing on wednesday night at cary elementary, it was the most awfully politically correct thing ever. I guess they were so afraid of offending someone that the most "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer", "Holly Jolly Christmas" and "Winter Wonderland" were the only Christmas songs I knew.

Oh but they sang two Kwanzaa songs

Anything less than 100% Christian conversions of our laws, people, and practices is oppression against Christians!

^x5 I don't wonder about that at all. PinkandBlack is a pinko, commie, moonbat. This seems pretty straightforward to me.

PS: I'm not a Christian, so I'm not the one being oppressed.

And neither are Christians, unless it's by Christian-run capitalist-friendly corporations.

What in the flipping fuck are you talking about? When have I ever said anything remotely communist on here? Is it communistic to disagree with you on global warming, the stupid argument you keep crying about? It's a putrid ideology. I dont like the ideology, never had, never will, and I take offense to you calling me that. I support democracy, first and foremost. Are you Randy? Is everyone to the left of you a communist, as he believed? Don't go bitching about how people don't give you respect when you're the one going around making shit up about people you don't like, cripes.

PS: my user name has nothing to do with politics, as you seem to think.

^^Answer the fucking question. The sophomoric humor route only works when you're actually funny.

What's the problem here? Your younger brother was exposed to other cultures. Is that a problem for you?

Christmas pageants are notoriously lame anyway. What were you expecting? Was Tupac supposed to appear and sing "Mary's Got A Baby" or something?

I'd imagine that his problem stems from the fact that they are explicitly not allowed to sing any songs relating to the religion of over 75% of Americans, but they sang two songs related to a festival that was created
1. To exclude all races except African Americans.
-and-
2. As a direct alternative to Christmas (the religion of over 75% of Christians.)

Would forcing all the females to wear a burqa and be subservient to the males in the class qualify as "exposure" to other cultures?

are you blind? They sang christmas songs. He said he only recognized 3 of them. Furthermore, Kwanza was not created as a rival to Christmas.
