The classic example...

When a white man gets pulled over for speeding, he gets nervous, pulls over, retrieves his license and registration, and waits for the cop to approach the car. When a black man gets pulled over for speeding, he gets nervous, pulls over, keeps both hands clearly on the wheel, and waits for the cop to approach the car.

also, as it currently stands, african americans are underrepresented in college. That is the basis for the UNCF

I keep my hands visible at all times when I get pulled over. I never move them from the steering wheel until the cop tells me to. Guess my race, too.

^^I think the question is: Are they underrepresented because they are black or are they underrepresented because they are poor.

If it is the latter, then more scholarships dedicated to poor people is the right way to go about fixing the problem, rather than by skin color.

Of course there are some of us opposed to treating people one way or another based on skin color, but we're just those people stuck on the constitution.

(This isn't to say I have any problem with private funding of college educations based on race or creed. Thus, the UNCF, to the extent that its funding is private, is fine by me)

I don't have the statistics on me right now, but from what I understand the last time I looked, blacks from all financial backgrounds were underrepresented in college.

Where as whites are overly represented in college.

Well, I'd like to see where they were shown to be underrepresented after all economic and geographical biases are controlled for. If they are still underrepresented, I may be willing to temporarily relax my disdain for race-based anything using public funds.
