Butch Davis has never won a national championship as a head coach. he was an assistant coach for a team that won the national championship.... just like Chuck Amato.12/6/2006 10:39:12 PM |

Butch Davis was just awarded the National championship by the helms or harris foundation that awarded UNC the 1924 basketball championship. Very sneaky 12/6/2006 10:41:26 PM |

I wonder what it is like to be a fan of a program like Texas, Ohio, and such.
And odd thing from a friend that went to the Auburn game where they lost to Georgia at home, wrecking there NC chances.
The Auburn fans he was with almost acted like it wasnt a big deal. Our fans would have been crushed.
Is it like this with programs that are used to success? 12/6/2006 11:13:55 PM |

The 2005 senior class won 35 games, the most in the modern era of BC football history. The 35 wins also ties for the best four-year mark in school history (1939-42). The Eagles have now strung together the most successful five, six and seven-year periods in school history. " |

Can someone explain what's not to like about TOB. It seems to me he is consistently pulling down ~8 wins per year and appears with some regularity in the top 25.
Hell, if he can deliver anything like that here, how can anyone be angered? 12/6/2006 11:30:59 PM |

Stop posting stupid shit because YOU don't like him. Knowledged NCSU fans love this hire. The only reason they were stuck in Boise is because BC has so little support/following. He had nothing to work with.12/7/2006 12:58:57 AM |

I personally wanted Jimbo Fisher but I will take what I can get. BC was like 3 plays from being undefeated, losses here on the last play brought on by a terriblel kicker for them, and at conference champion WF and to Miami. that was probably the worst loss cause of what was on the line for BC. But I was really hoping for Jimbo just cause his name is JIMBO 12/7/2006 1:21:08 AM |

1. He is a Navy man, he will discipline his players. 2. He can win more consistently than any other coach we had, save Holtz (Sheridan lost most of his bowl games, TOB wins his) 3. He's proven himself as an offensive coach. 4. He has won in BCS conferences. 5. He reminds me of George Welsh, who I thought was a class act.
Why people don't like him:
1. He isn't Cowher. 2. He won't entertain you like Chuck. 3. He isn't Cowher. 4. He isn't Butch Davis, and we all know there were plenty of coaches better than him out there that we could have nabbed. 5. He isn't Cowher. 6. He isn't a redneck named Jimbo or Cooter or whatever. 7. He isn't Cowher.
get over it, morons. we have a great coach now.

Quote : | "But O'Brien, 58, had grown frustrated in recent seasons because the Eagles could not attract much fan support in a city preoccupied by its professional sports teams. In each of the last two seasons, after the Eagles left the Big East Conference for the ACC, they were passed over in the ACC's bowl pecking order because of the school's inability to sell tickets for bowl games.
The Eagles finished 9-3 (5-3 ACC) this season and are ranked No. 23 in The Associated Press Top 25 poll. Boston College was in contention to win the ACC's Atlantic Division until losing to Miami 17-14 in its regular-season finale on Nov. 23.
The Eagles finished second in their division, behind Wake Forest, but still fell to sixth in the bowl selections. Instead of selecting the Eagles, the Champs Sports Bowl in Orlando chose Maryland and the Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl in Nashville picked Clemson. Each of those teams also finished 5-3 in ACC play but lost to Boston College during the regular season." |
