So this is probably a dumb question, but what about those appetite surpressors, do they have pillsthat raise your metabolism? It's probably not good to use any of these with exercise and good food right?

It's not bad to use them without exercise/diet.

You just won't get the results you're looking for.

I used to use something called dymatadrine extreme when I was working out a lot. It worked great...as I was down to less than 10% body fat, but they took it off the market.......

maybe it had something to do with it making you heart feel like it would beat out of your chest.

but hydroxycut is still on the market, I think.

also, cocaine is a killer appetite suppressant.

Cool. Ok so I hate vegetables, minus corn. I've been buying lean cuisine and south beach diet type meals because I can't cook. I love fruit but not the ones in season right now, minus bananas. I'm currently taking a multi viamin because I'd die without it. For snacks throughout the day I've got those Special K granola bars (90 calories), green apple nutri-grain bars, string cheese, yogurt...and that's about it. For lunch I have a pb and j sandwich with a banana, yogurt, and some Sunchips(about 5). Breakfast consists of a granola bar, please recommend things I can easily pack/make for breakfast since I suck in the mornings. Dinner is one of those "diet" meals.

yay or nay? Making things from scratch is basically nil, maybe when I get further into my exercise plan, get more energy, and motivation to make things on my own...but right now simple is cooler and those listed above is way better than what I've previously been eating.

I think you fail in the quest of losing weight when on day one you are looking for some sort of drug to help you.

SERIOUSLY: count calories, it's not that hard.

ha it was jsut a question. I've never tried pills or anything like that when losing weight.

I've counted calories before, last time I calculated which was a while ago I needed to be at 1230 calories a day.

Sounds like you havent put together that great of an eating plan, alot of things you have on there are bad fats and sugars. You need to get your diet straight and more importantly than cardio you need to lift weights.

Ok fine, recipes for turning nasty veggies into tasty goodness. Which veggies should I focus on eating? bleh.

Hopefully to start off exercising will begin the weight loss, I think I overwhelm myself by doing a complete and total transformation at once, maybe focus on the exercise part and slowly get a better diet. Shit in college when I exercised all I ate was a salad and a glass of chocolate milk and lost a shit ton of weight. I don't need to lose without even starting. Exercise first, diet to come..

i bet with the diet and some exercise u'd lose 50 pounds by like the end of may

i'll 2nd the suggestion to eliminate drinking sodas

find a gym you like, and get a personal trainer to structure your workouts according to your goals, thats what I did had that helped me more than I could have imagined. Plus they also keep you motivated when you cant motivate yourself

its amazing what the right cooking methods, a little salt and pepper, some herbs and spices, and minute amounts of olive oil can do for just about anything.

Steaming and boiling is the most "healthy" way in the sense that you're not adding any fat whole cooking, but it also leaches out the most nutrients (re: vitamins)

Hey I hear ya!

I want to lose weight too.

I want mine to be around 25 lbs but everyone keeps telling me that is too much so it might end up being 15ish.

So far I have cut out soft drinks and I am running/walking and I am eating A LOT more healthy.

Down 2.5 lbs since last week.

I think you can do it.

Your diet is going to be, far and above, the most important part of your whole weight loss plan, and its what's going to make the biggest difference in keeping the weight off once you lose it.

Prepackeged "convenience" foods are absolutely fucking horrible for you, i dont care whether they're "diet" meals or not. You're not going to lose a healthy pound if you keep eating that crap.

You may dislike a lot of vegetables, but you'll grow to like them just by eating them. There are a shitload of foods that i used to hate, until i started forcing myself to try them.

their medications cause them to gain weight, but granted it's muscle and bone mass.

they get the good drugs too. HIV+ is the only reason insurance companies will cover an HGH prescription.

I'm not interested in pills.

At least I'm honest as far as whatwill work for me and what won't. I'll give veggies a shot since I basically cut them out of my life since I was a preteen.

AIDS causes muscle wasting; it's not the medication causing that. they can take steroids and HGH and continue to lose weight.

Quote :
"The link between HIV infection and weight loss, while not completely understood, has many causes. The most frequent explanations include side effects such as nausea or loss of appetite, medications that patients take to control their disease, opportunistic infections which increase calorie needs, mouth or tooth infections which make eating difficult, and overwhelming fatigue which makes it hard to manage everyday routines, including shopping and cooking. Diarrhea, a common problem for HIV-positive people, may be directly related to weight loss. With or without diarrhea, malfunction of the intestine may lead to an inability to absorb nutrients (malabsorption) and may also contribute to weight loss. Changes in metabolism, including the number of calories patients expend at rest or in physical activity, also affect weight loss. Whether HIV-infected people lose weight because they eat less or need more calories is unclear, but medical experts agree that something about the disease affects how the body uses calories."

They're both important, but diet and proper nutrition is going to determine how your body metabolizes things, and the rate at which its done.

You can eat well, and healthy and still lose weight (i did this and dropped close to 40 lbs in 5 months) without ever really working out. Where you can run, excersize, and be as active as possible, and if you eat like shit, you wont ever really be healthy. You may burn fat, but malnutrition will catch up to you eventually.

you dont seem too serious about this, and you absolutely have to be a nazi about diet and exercise in order to lose that much weight

while i feel you no the veggies, you'll need to eat them because they have some nutrients that aid in digestion and will overall help you lose weight. also, while i agree that running is boring and can hurt, you're going to HAVE to do it if you stand a chance at losing all that weight. Running for 30 minutes you can burn 600 calories no problem, your metabolism stays up for 4 - 8 hours afterwards, and you have plenty other time to do hundreds of other exercises to boost your metabolism. My advice, go buy a nice pair of running shoes, and suck it up.
