Told y'all Oakland wanted Vick haha

Quote :
"
The Raiders are preparing to make a run at Michael Vick, according to NFL sources. The Raiders package would include receivers Randy Moss and Jerry Porter plus the No.1 overall pick in the 2007 draft for Vick and the Falcons first round pick (10th overall).
"

I know it's in the other thread, but I made the point on here a week or so ago and it seemed relevant to this dicussion on who exactly ATL would take with that first pick.

Do you go with:
Russel - new QB with a big arm to hit those new WR's
Thomas - stout OT to help the ground game and Schaub
C. Johnson - to bolster an incredible WR-core for your young QB

Other thoughts?

To the OP:

That you don't have the Saints drafting a cornerback = your mock fails

^when you draft that low, you usually go for the best player available. Then again, this is the Saints.

The Saints drafted second overall last season and went B(MH)PA anyway. What's your point

^^^ I thought I read your post as "You have them drafting a CB so you fail", I was gonna say you're dead wrong but just re-read your post

Fred Thomas is awful, the saints could use a better corner. Everytime he was on the field the QB went right after him.

If this was true offer, I could see the Falcons turning it down because I don't think Blank wants to bring in two more headaches to replace the one he already has.

But if I was running that team, I take this in a heartbeat. Schaub would obviously become the starter, you'd have a solid group of WRs in Moss, Porter, Jenkins, White, and Crumpler and then you could use the #1 pick as trade bait for lower picks to help plug holes on defense (like LBs). Or if you don't trade the #1, you could take Russell in case Schaub sucks or get Thomas to help the line.

Just glanced at the MSNBC mock draft ... check out pick 24. innnnnteresting.

1. Raiders JaMarcus Russell QB 6-5 253 LSU
2. Lions Brady Quinn QB 6-4 228 Notre Dame
3. Browns Adrian Peterson RB 6-2 220 Oklahoma
4. Bucs Alan Branch DT 6-6 327 Michigan
5. Cardinals Gaines Adams DE 6-5 257 Clemson
6. Redskins Joe Thomas OT 6-7 310 Wisconsin
7. Vikings Calvin Johnson WR 6-4 226 Georgia Tech
8. Texans Levi Brown OT 6-4 324 Penn State
9. Dolphins Leon Hall CB 5-11 193 Michigan
10. Falcons Dwayne Jarrett WR 6-5 213 USC
11. Niners Amobi Okoye DT 6-2 317 Louisville
12. Bills LaRon Landry FS 6-2 208 LSU
13. Rams Jamaal Anderson DE 6-6 272 Arkansas
14. Panthers Ted Ginn Jr. WR 6-0 182 Ohio State
15. Steelers Paul Posluszny LB 6-2 235 Penn State
16. Packers Marshawn Lynch RB 5-11 221 Cal
17. Jaguars Sidney Rice WR 6-4 205 South Carolina
18. Bengals Reggie Nelson FS 6-0 193 Florida
19. Titans Dwayne Bowe WR 6-2 222 LSU
20. Giants Darrelle Revis CB 6-0 194 Pittsburgh
21. Broncos Aaron Ross CB 6-0 192 Texas
22. Cowboys Lawrence Timmons OLB 6-3 232 Florida State
23. Chiefs Ben Grubbs G 6-3 312 Auburn
24. Patriots A.J. Davis CB 5-10 190 N.C. State
While the Patriots have clear needs at receiver, Bill Belichick and G.M. Scott Pioli love to do the unexpected. Belichick always values corners with speed and instincts and that means Davis is his kind of player. Excellent leaping ability and balance, but isn't physical or effective against the run.

25. Jets Zach Miller TE 6-5 260 Arizona State
26. Eagles Anthony Gonzalez WR 6-0 195 Ohio State
27. New Orleans Patrick Willis MLB 6-2 235 Mississippi
28. Patriots Craig Davis WR 6-1 203 LSU
29. Ravens Antonio Pittman RB 5-11 197 Ohio State
30. Chargers Adam Carriker DE 6-6 295 Nebraska
31. Bears Robert Meachem WR 6-3 212 Tennessee
32. Colts Anthony Spencer DE 6-3 264 Purdue

Marcus Hudson was a better cover corner that AJ and he was picked 6th round.

AJ has all of the POTENTIAL in the world however, he just needs to learn to use it.

something tells me that whoever made that was from Big Ten country... loaded with Ohio State and Michigan guys rated WAY too high... no way Gonzalez will be picked before Meachem

as a panthers fan, I'd take Ginn at that spot. Maybe not before Landry, but not far behind.

We could pencil him in as the 3rd wideout for now and slide him to the two spot when Keyshawn leaves. Also, we desperately need a punt/kickoff return man, and Ginn is one of the best I've ever seen. He doesn't try to out-juke you like Reggie Bush -- he just runs right by your ass.

You may be suprised by AJ's name up there, but I think it is FOXSports or another site that has moved him all the way up to the 26th best player in the draft and had him as the #6 CB in the draft.

Apparently he is dazzling people in workouts or combines and his stock is soaring. I think it may be his speed that has people drooling.

the combine is not until next week. I don't think AJ Davis gonna get drafted that high anyway. He's fast, but there are better corners than him.

btw, just because he's not getting drafted in the 1st round doesn't mean he's a bad player. I think he as the talent. He just needs some coaching on techniques.
