Well when the Yankee's were winning all the time in the late 90's you could argue that their bandwagon was just big. With success comes hanger's on and bandwagoners no doubt.
On the flipside with the Yankee's success much like Duke/UNC in the ACC its either a love them or hate them mentality so naturally people that hate the most successful team like the Yankees (who still have a big fanbase not a big now) its natural to cheer for the biggest rival.
The Red Sox like the Cubs for so long had people cheer them in hopes that they will eventually win, the Underdog theory. The Red Sox finally won the World Series in 2004 so naturally the bandwagon is huge now. It doesn't bother me. Does it bother non Red Sox Fans? 5/28/2007 9:58:28 PM |

From an indians perspective, if we win the world series this year and all of a sudden people are all over them it would be a little irritating because you want fan bases to experience the downs with the ups. Thats what makes winning the big one so sweet. Like you said though, winning brings in those borderline people. Does it bother you that some of these same people were yankee fans till just a couple of years ago?
oh and btw we got jobbed on that casey blake call in the 9th tonight.

I find it funny that the Yankee's fans come out of the woodwork when they hit there hot streak, I knew they wouldn't stay down forever. The Red Sox couldn't stay red hot forever. We still have a nice lead. I am more pissed about Bonds homering in Fenway.
The Red Sox just need to handle there business especially with the Sox and Yankees going on the road. 6/17/2007 9:00:38 PM |

Tito just got thrown out after arguing a 2nd reversed call going against the Red Sox. The first was a ball that bounced in front of Manny that was originally ruled a catch, the 2nd a home run by the Padres off the foul pole, originally called a foul. Both times after the errant call was made, the Padres manager came out to argue the call, and shortly after the umpiring crew got together, talked about it, and corrected the call.
I see shitty calls made all the time, yet hardly ever see the crew reverse any calls, much less blatantly bad ones. Managers come out all the time to argue calls, and it NEVER does any good. Yet it just happened twice in the same game against the Sox. Anyway, just had to rant 6/24/2007 12:02:38 AM |

Man, this thread is dead now. I mean, the Red Sox in the pennant race fans, let's not get too complacent heading into the postseason. I guess it's because the NFL is back or the fact that the Red Sox have a six game lead, but it's not over. The Sox has to finish. 9/6/2007 2:25:19 PM |

just look at bill Simmons - he doesn't say shit about the Red Sox this year compared to last year. Hell, if he wasn't paid to be "the red sox guy" by ESPN, I'm sure we would hear nothing about them. 9/6/2007 2:39:47 PM |
