yes, i recommend it, if you use custom (not linksys') firmware

if you want to download DD-WRT custom firmware, be sure to read and understand all instructions before beginning. you can brick your router if you dont do it correctly. also, this firmware is heavily tested and widely used, but it is still open source beta software, so no guarantees. use at your own risk.

main page
http://www.dd-wrt.com

first read this
http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/What_is_DD-WRT%3F#File_Versions

the first time you install DD-WRT to a fresh Linksys, using the normal Linksys Web GUI firmware upgrade function, you will need to use the "MINI" build and the "GENERIC" version. once youve installed that successfully, you can then upgrade to the full (STANDARD) version or any of the specialty builds (VPN, VOIP, etc)

download here:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads.php

and get the "dd-wrt.v23_sp2_mini.zip"

before installing read this:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Installation#Downloading_DD-WRT

and read any "readme"s or "install" notes in the zip file

i'm going on memory here from work, so this is just general.

here's a good link for people using WRT and having issues with BitTorrent.

a feature in the linux OS is to keep an IP connection table, but heavy BitTorrent use can overflow this, causing slowdown or crash.

to fix this problem, you just decrease the timeout period which removes unused connections from the table
