It's cool Kainen, you're right, it probably belonged in Chit Chat. Sometimes I forget about the existence of Chit Chat because I rarely look at it. I just don't like when non-spam gets deleted, I think it should have been sent to Chit Chat. But I also think that the wolf should take off his leprachaun's hat, and that the time issue should be corrected. Oh well.

the lounge would have been the most civil place for it. but regardless this thread will slowly exit page one in the oncoming days.
for those of you who have kept it civil, thanks. 3/26/2007 7:27:05 PM |

that would be pretty badass if we could get a whole bunch of money donated into one big pot and say from nc state or whatever. maybe through an online source or something. don't know if this is theoretically possible, but would be pretty cool

^^that would be cool....but then again if we got a lot of money raised i would want it to go to an NC State scholarship...is that selfish of me?
anyway, from what i've read about this guy he was a great person and he is going to be missed
RIP Jason!
^did your grandfather die in a tragic accident at the age of 21? i'm sure losing a grandparent hurts...but i am guessing not nearly as much as losing your son at such a young age. his parents, family, and friends must be going so through so much pain right now, and i feel sorry for anyone who has to experience that. and so do other people. get over it.

I'm not advocating donating money to the 'enemy' (Yes, this reaches far past city lines).... If I'm gonna donate money it's gonna be to NC State.
All I wish is that some people can show a little decency for a human life...who I'm sure and people have attested is a pretty nice guy, tar heel or not. If you were living by machines you wouldn't want people on insidecarolina to be posting shit like 'Fuck you, wuffie'. Human decency extends far beyond petty rivalries.....this coming from a guy who hates everything Carolina 3/26/2007 9:04:49 PM |

^^no, but i do know a guy who died a few years back who was my age and a member of the nc state community. he didnt get any kind of reaction from anyone. he was an ME and even the dept didnt really do anything.
not that i'm complaining...
oh hey, an American soldier died in Iraq today. What a very sad day. We should all get together and maybe send his family a card. Or maybe we could set up a scholarship fund in his name. what a tragedy for someone so young.
oh wait, he wasnt on any sports teams or a celebrity, so nevermind

^ No it's a valid point, good people die every day unnoticed, doesn't make it any more sad, its just when something happens to someone related to the media's darlings, UNC, everybody seems to notice a lot more...

I'm sure if Mr. or Mrs. Wuf got bulldozed they'd have that on the news too... IMO this extends far beyond any UNC bias
As said, it doesn't mean the kid is any more important.... it means that you hear about it and should always pull for someone to pull for a horrible accident like that.
I sometimes don't have sympathy for idiots doing stunts, drug addicts, anna nicole, etc.... but this kid was just walking down the road.

why is TWW obligated to send a card/roses or "do something for the family" for a deceased student of another school?
I'm not trolling or trying to be an asshole, but I just don't get it. Every time someone off TWW dies, do "we" (The Wolf Web community) receive a card from party heels? Of course not, the only reason anyone cares was because he put on a costume which supposedly makes him a hero. Did TWW send a card when those baseball players died in the bus wreck a few weeks ago? It sucks the kid died and I don't feel any better about it then anyone else, but I just don't see the need to go overboard with sympathy.
(The only reason I could see why we should do this would be to publicly redeem "ourselves" for the whole race-debacle that took place after our ACC tourney game with UNC. But in reality, it's not like the collective TWW community gives a rat's ass about what the media thinks anyway.) 3/26/2007 9:42:44 PM |

you arent obligated to do shit. however, some people feel a need to express sympathy for those who not only have to lose a loved one, but who have to deal with overwhelming press attention at the same time. if you arent sympathetic so be it. 3/26/2007 10:03:33 PM |

Of course it does. It isn't your opinion that it goes far beyond any bias, it's fact. I heard the news this morning on WFAN based in NYC. I guarentee you they could not give two shits about Carolina or anyone at the school. It was a sports story and whether it happened to someone associated with UNC, NC State, Duke, or Fairleigh Dickinson it would have made the news...
-- and anyone who thinks anyone is obligated to do something is crazy... imo the only thing we should be obligated to do is be somewhat respectful in this section..

Sorry, but I gotta ask. Was this kid hammered or what? He's a college kid at one of the biggest sports tournaments in the US, walking back late from a convience store late at night. The driver wasn't under the influence according to the ESPN article, but no mention of the kid's intoxication.
Bad things happen, but I have a hell of alot less sympathy when bad things happen to prople putting themselves in bad situations, myself included. This seems too much like the drunk kid who fell out of a window at UNC last year to get all weepy about things.
Condolences to the family, but Jesus, let's keep things in perspective. 3/27/2007 12:10:57 PM |

My bad about the time, but if anything, I'm more convinced the kid was wasted. Why is this kid walking so close to a road to get hit during broad daylight? If something was up with the driver, there would be charges filed already. 3/27/2007 12:22:08 PM |

This isn't the first time someone was killed there and it won't be the last. If you've never been to Fort Lee you wouldn't understand. That place is a disaster area with high speed traffic and blind turns off the highway. I didn't even like driving there and I've had tons of Boston/NYC type city driving experience..
From what I heard they did the toxicology report and he was completely sober.

I'm sure he knew better than to be drunk before a game, also. The cheerleading coaches wouldn't put up with that crap. He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. 3/27/2007 12:26:58 PM |

I agree that something doesn't quite add up, but it's hard for me to believe that the kid got hammered before he had to perform at the game (I could be wrong though). 3/27/2007 12:27:41 PM |

OK, fine. I buy the wrong place at the wrong time considering the circumstances (game time). I was backpacking all weekend and thought all this went down that night after the game. Condolences for the family and all that. Remember kids, look both ways, twice. 3/27/2007 12:31:59 PM |

Well, if there is one thing to learn about this, it is to watch the fuck out when you cross the street. It doesn't really matter if the driver is at fault because they will always win.
