But one organization or the other is sure to make a similar statement every 3 months or so. Be it, Chapel Hell changing a road name (and fucking up many businesses in the process), to Black History Month, to X Y Z, blah blah blah, it's a constant reminder that a difference does exist...or at least, I guess it exists since I am constantly reminded of it.

I hear this arguement all the time and I've never understood it. As if ignoring race is going to just make racial inequality and racism go away.
Its like if you go to the doctor and he tells you "you have cancer" just ignoring it and pretending like it isnt there won't make it go away. First you have to diagnose the racism, then you can get to solving the problem.
