First in Flight is nice for its alliteration, and emphasis on innovation. That appeal is somewhat statewide. Maybe some slogan that emphasizes the research done in the triangle area. Something like yay for the smokies seems like it would hardly be appealing to people living in Wilmington.

"How about just "the Tar Heel State?"

That’s another one where people could like it on either end of the state.

Raleigh is the state capital so

Looking at wiki I saw this

Quote :
" North Carolina is a state located in the Southeastern United States along its Atlantic Seaboard. It was one of the original Thirteen Colonies, originally known as Carolina, and the home of the first English colony in the Americas. On 20 May 1861, it became the last of the Confederate states to secede from the Union, and was readmitted on 4 July 1868. It was also the location of the first successful powered heavier-than-air flight by the Wright brothers at Kill Devil Hills near Kitty Hawk in 1903. Today, it is a fast-growing state with an increasingly diverse economy and population. As of 1 July 2006, the population estimate is 8,856,505[3] - a 10% increase since 1 April 2000."

So how about:
”First in, last out”

The Old North State could show our heritage as one of the first colonies without being seeming like we are trying too hard to brag about ourself. I also like Esse quam videri.

^ haha
(i hope you're kidding....)

i noticed a whole lot of the red lettering ones driving on I-40 this weekend. I don't really like them..... the red for the letters is a different shade (more orange) than the red for First in Flight or for North Carolina. And the red is just too garrish anyway. i have to say I preferred the blue
