no, i'm arguing against the ones that are and make a big deal about it. In all seriousness, if i am racist (which i'm not saying I am), its because of living in this country. Growing up I didn't know there was such a thing as black people. I just thought since they were from Africa they were naturally darker because of the sun. Once I moved to the US and was no longer a kid, i learned there are 'labels' for every color group of people, yellow, black, white etc etc.

My problem is that people need to stop playing the race card. Ok, so your ancestors were slaves, move on. No one alive today was around to make that offense to blacks, and no blacks alive today were around to have suffered under slavery. There are tons of good terrific blacks (even more so than whites), but the ones bringing the whole ethnic group down are the ones that are always in the spotlight.

Second:

since you are too dense to get my posting in this thread i will explain the point. The point is that while slavery was terrible and all that. Life is still much better off here for the majority of those descendants then it would have ever been back in African countries torn by civil war, violence, starvation, disease, HIV, etc etc....where most slaves first originated from so long long ago. Instead of blacks trying to live in the past, they should live in the present/future. They have a good life here and they should make the best of it on their own two feet. It was their ancestors that suffered, not them directly.

So how does it go again? If you hate freedom or America so much....go the fuck back home? Well lucky for us that doesn't only apply to Arabs.

You don't know shit about America. You start with a set notion that you want to believe, and then you fill it in with the details that support your notion and ignore the other important details. You completely ignore the fact that the suffering didn't stop with the 13th amendment. Blacks are still putting up with some bullshit today, and I'm not talking about the racist store clerks who follow them around to make sure they don't steal--that's annoying and all--but I'm talking about powerful instutitions that perpetuate racial disparity. The public education system, the banks, and the real estate industry are the ones I personally despise.

if people put their mind to things, people of any color, they can succeed and accomplish goals...people who play the blame game when things dont come easily to them are often simply giving themselves an excuse as to why its someone else's fault that they can't do everything they want...people need to have some responsiblity for themselves...there are poor people of all colors and races who have been successful through hard work and determination...perpetuating the idea that certain people are held down just strengthens peoples' excuses for why they haven't been successful...also

And I said that being followed around is stores is annoying. That's an understatement.

I was at a shoe store one time, and the all-black staff waited on every black customer in the store before me. Once I finally got help, I took my shoes up to the counter and waited. When the black clerk came up to the counter, she helped the two black people in line behind me before me like I was invisible. It was surreal, trying to inch in and shove my shoes to the front. I finally got so frustrated I shoved the shoes across the counter onto floor and walked out.

I can't imagine what it's like to put up with little shit like that every day. You gotta be strong to not let that wear on you.

(And I left out an institution--the criminal justice system.)

I guess the purpose of this thread was because I'm on the side opposite of everyone in terms of me being a White male. I look around and I see women walking around telling everyone that they're a strong woman and they're proud to be a woman, and then I see Blacks walking around telling everyone how proud they are to be Black.

And I look at myself and I think, am I supposed to be proud of what I am? I hear everyone telling me about all the benefits I get and how "spoiled" I am because I'm both White and I'm a male. It's almost like I'm supposed to be ashamed, like I'm the rich preppy kid of the "racial and gender school". And then I see how I can barely make rent and I think, "Is this the benefit I get for being a White male?"

It's true that a lot of kids don't have to experience it because their parents pay, but drunknloaded is right, that issue is largely seperate (separate?) from your issues with white pride. Sorry your parents cut you off. That sucks.

God, nobody is saying you can't be proud to be a white male. You can do that all damn day. But some folks might think you're silly cause white pride doesn't makes any sense to them. If you refuse to see the difference between white pride and black pride, you're being willfully ignorant. ^^My white uncle went to an "all-black" university on a scholarship cause he was white. He only lasted like a semester and a half though. There was a big snow storm, hadn't had one in a long time. He was walking back from class through the snow when all of a sudden some guy said, "KILL WHITEY!" and he got owned by snowballs. He thought it was funny and never sensed any malice in it, but he still felt like he didn't fit in so he left.

The point of the story is that white folks can go there, too.

Woman who endures sexual harrassment cause HR doesn't take her seriously.

Sick person whose insurance company denies their claims on some questionable technicality.

Poor person who can't afford a good lawyer and goes to prison for a crime they didn't commit.

We can do this all night, TreeTwista10. All these people are being held down based on how much money they have, what color their skin is, and what they have between their legs.

Yeah, this is disturbing. I think it's been going on for a long, long time, and nobody's ever done anything about it.

I also think the issue of race and class comes into play here--you know how I do. I believe these women are preying on poor, minority children whose parents are busy working two jobs and are just glad to see a teacher take an interest in their child's education.

But I can't confirm my suspicion cause they don't release much information about the victims in these cases.
