yea i check all my usual places a couple times a day when i think about it. this is some airtight stuff tho man, dang
and ps im still surprised there is absolutely no advertisement on victory's part. even tho btbam's cd is highly anticipated and really doesnt need the advertisement with all the hype its still weird for a label not to have an e-card, banners on the usual sites, or tv ads at this point

1. Foam Born: (a) the backtrack 2. (b) the decade of statues } ~9 minutes between both tracks 1 and 2 3. Informal Gluttony (6:47) 4. Sun of Nothing (10:59) 5. Ants of the Sky (13:10) 6. Prequel to the Sequel (8:something) 7. Viridian (2:51) 8. White Walls (14:13)
because of formatting the track length lists are cut off for track 1 and 2 and the 'seconds' section of track 6. didnt think those lengths had been posted yet.

Didn't they release like 2-3 tracks off alaska pretty early? like atleast 2 months before it released? 8/14/2007 2:42:03 PM |
CalledToArms All American 22025 Posts user info edit post |
yea had a demo off alaska out 2mos+ before the cd, as well as the mastered version of it a few weeks later and then they also put up selkies 4-5 weeks before the release.
im wondering if the track lengths have something to do with it. i know the 2:51 second one is instrumental, and maybe they dont want the first 2 combo tracks to be released individually and all the songs left are super long and they might not want 11-14 mins of their cd released right now i dono.. 8/14/2007 2:44:04 PM |

True, but this album has to be trading hands around Victory if it's already mastered, not to mention some other places like critics, etc. soon. God it needs to leak! 8/14/2007 2:45:46 PM |

HAI GUIZ
apparently 'decade of statues' was streamed today on a web radio station in the uk!! im about to go find it i swear on my life
hahaha i found it and im listening to it now! the intro the DJ gives it is awesome too. victory's press release that came with the cd said only "get ready for the most mind blowing jaw dropping sonicly complex 64 minutes youll have this year"
oh and PS the bitrate on this is REAL crappy. the guitar work sounds hot tho. it gets reaall good towards the end too.
bah been trying to find a way to rip it for you guys hold on

bah, just use the stream its longer than any of the demo stream rippers will let me record
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/radio1_aod.shtml?radio1/rockshow
there are two 'skip ahead' options. 5mins and 15mins. this song happens to be perfectly placed so that it starts 5 seconds after one of the preset marker points. Once the stream has loaded press the 15 min forward button 3 times. Your timer should read 19:45:00 and the song starts at 19:45:05
enjoy!
if you want to hear the dj talk about it just skip ahead 40 minutes instead of 45 and you have to sit through 3 mins of hopesfall and then the dj talks for 2 mins then the song comes on.

goodnight and enjoy that little bit for now.
3:35 through the end of the song (on the stream rip) is just ridiculous. cant wait to hear this thing with some decent sound quality.

man i cant wait to really hear everything going on in that song with the full quality recording. after a few listens tho its a great song.
-the guitarwork is excellent as always. some GREAT melodic hooks in this song -the vocals are also good. Tommy has a great rythmic style with his vocals that sets him apart from other metal/hardcore acts and hes done it once again
but both of those things were expected. what really shined through on this song even in crappy sound quality was fully utilizing blake(drums) and dan (bass) on this recording. they have both a drummer and bassist that are more creative that 99% of other bands writing similar music and it really showed on this song.
cannot wait for the cd 8/15/2007 8:57:44 AM |

interpunk review:
Quote : | "BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME have built their reputation as one of hard rock’s most inventive and ambitious bands. Sharing a lineage with such luminaries as PINK FLOYD, KING CRIMSON and TOOL, they continue to explore new territory with a genuine passion to push themselves and their audience. They dream the impossible and they make it happen time and time again. Looking at their hugely celebrated catalog, it’s exciting to see how far they’ve come and how deep they are willing to go. Venturing into each record is like exploring undiscovered country. From the progressive metal stomp of their self-titled debut, followed by the melancholy of The Silent Circus and then the claustrophobic Alaska, BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME continue to evolve into a new pedigree that defies any categorization. Colors, the band’s newest record, is a sonic labyrinth of grand proportion. It’s an organism completely in its own class and at the nerve center is a band that encourages the listener to take the bold ride from beginning to end. The record is a continuous movement of savage metal, lush prog-rock and stimulating mood that morphs into some of the most forward thinking music today. Yet for a record that is so fierce and complex, it is also engaging and comfortable. It challenges the myths of what we expect from modern rock, demonstrating just how much potential there is in a band and the people who experience their craft. On September 18th, take a bold step into a world that has no boundaries with the band’s new record, Colors. This may very well be their greatest achievement ever and just another huge piece of the puzzle that is BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME." |
"Sun of Nothing" 2 minute clip..but the quality is so poor ill warn you its barely worth listening to. of course the kid cuts off the clean part at the end that we might have been able to make more out of

2nd listen through and its even better. i have NEVER heard a more epic album, or an album that touches so many musical genres, or that flows as well from start to finish. the writing is nearly FLAWLESS the entire length of the cd. the drumming, the bass, the keyboards, the handdrums, the vocal melodies.
i had ridiculous expectations for this CD and it STILL blew me out of the water. best first listen of a cd ever im pretty sure at this point 8/19/2007 5:49:07 AM |

Absolutely phenomenal. I can't think of any other way to describe it. I DLed it (and will buy it), listened to it three times through, and it was the most musically blissful moment that I can recall. This album absolutely blew me away and easily pushed BTBAM to the top of my list (it was cloudy, but they have taken the top).
Get it and listen to it, it's worth it. 8/19/2007 8:22:24 PM |

you know whats interesting about the artwork. when alaska came out i remember tommy answering a question about whether he liked Alaska or not and he basically said of course he liked it but "we havent written our 'dark side of the moon yet' " pretty much word for word on that last part.
i wonder if the cover/name is referring to that. maybe im reading too much into it but after remembering tommy saying exactly that and also knowing how extremely excited he was about this album... 8/22/2007 7:00:15 AM |

I didn't realize until i was fucking around on wikipedia that I know like half of this band.
I remember when some of the members were in Naryan (or however you're supposed to spell it) and they recorded a demo. Only after that did one of the singers say, 'You know, we should write some lyrics.'

well yea dusty and blake were in narayan way back when. but BTBAM has been around since before Narayan was started even and put out a s/t and the silent circus before kicking some people out that eventually led to blake and dusty leaving glass casket(aka narayaN) to be in this band.
blake was a huge pick-up on drums for them. 8/22/2007 7:24:03 AM |
