that's if convicted. Then read the box abover the "price" example. If it gets to less than 10 over, regardless of speed limit, and you have no other violations and it wasn't a school zone, then you get 0 insurance points, but only as long as your record is clean.
Since mine is, that box applies to this case. 6/22/2007 2:18:48 PM |

i don't know how individual insurance companies work it but i had two tix reduced to 9-over within three years and it raised my insurance by about double, but one ticket 9-over didn't. So as long as it was no more than one per three year period, there was no effect. Next period the one from three years ago drops off, so insurance will be back to normal. 6/22/2007 2:19:32 PM |

wlb, if you read the next page of that link it says an exemption (no points) is made for under 10 miles an hour over as long as it wasn't in a school zone.

budman97420 is someone i would listen to in wake county.
now that i am in guiilford, there are a whole new set of rules on speeding. like i said faulty equipment and the like.
also know that you can use pjcs on class 1a misdemeanors (right under felony). ask anyone who has spent more than an hour in a courthouse
so like i said, if you like having fun, or if you smoke pot, or DO COKE!!11 dont waste it. go call a lawyer and get that shit thrown out cause your speedometer was off or some crazy law that the traffic specialization legal guys know about
and to pigkilla: yes i did say not to listen to us, doesnt mean we cant offer valid info. just stating the obvious to him. never make a potential life changing decision (even if its just financial or insurance) based off tww advice. quit having a heart attack ]
[Edited on June 22, 2007 at 3:08 PM. Reason : just kidding about coke. you cant pjc coke but you can 9096 <1g] 6/22/2007 3:05:51 PM |

Reduce to 9 over like everyone else said, I had to the same scenario and just paid a lawyer to take care of it for $200, but you can do it without one easily since it's your first, and you're not gonna win with any improper equipment thing, Alamance doesnt honor that. 6/22/2007 3:41:34 PM |

I'm dealing with a couple, here.
I got pulled for 81 in a 65 on the beltline last night. (the trooper was a cockbite and patted me down/gave me a breathalizer. I passed)
I'm still dealing with one in gville for like 84 in a 65.
The gville one, i have a lawyer. She said take the driving course and it'll get to 9.
can i take the driving course and use it twice, get them both to 9, and not get an insurance hike?
[Edited on June 22, 2007 at 3:48 PM. Reason : and yeah, i know i should stop fucking speeding. lol. My insurance is clear at this point, though.] 6/22/2007 3:46:26 PM |

i got a ticket for drunken pissing, more specifically "urinating off the balcony to wit the Abbey Apartments" long ago and I went to court and was like "yeah i did it" and i paid my fine...no jail time obviously...but this will be on your record! they said...so what, drunken pissing at college, oh no you're doomed forever!
if you're worried about saving your PJC you might want to spend some of that time worrying to plan on how not to get caught doing illegal shit
Also its not like you can use it for anything too serious...Your honor...to the charges of 3 counts of 1st degree murder my client would like to use his prayer for judgement 6/22/2007 3:49:07 PM |

i got a 38 in a 15 on states campus (by wolf village). when i went to court they said they could only lower it to 14 over. should i use a pjc or hire a lawyer and try to do better, or is this probably the best i am going to do? if i take that deal what am i looking at in points since it was on campus?
i have 0 other violations on my record - no tickets since i was 16 - almost 22 now.
any tips would be appreciated 6/22/2007 4:31:28 PM |

Alot of people are talking about "saving" your PJCs.
Just wanted to make the statement that PJCs are still up to prosecutor discretion. If you have already used one on some weed charge or public urination charge it is unlikely that the prosecutor will offer you a PJC. Additionally, I have been in situations where I have a great ADA I work with, get a PJC even though my clients record is bad, only to have the PJC offer get rejected when the Judge asks about my clients criminal history.
I say all that to say if you are into "having fun", your PJCs arent going to do you much good because nobody is going to let you use them. Therefore there is no harm in using them on driving charges because they can usually save you a ton of money.
Additionally, the common knowledge is that you get 2 PJCs every 5 years, but Ive never found any codification of that.

You can typically get an IE or IS even though you were speeding and are GUILTY. Its something that the counties give people that have a good driving record and a lower offense. They are worth every penny you will spend on an attorney to get one. In Raleigh, you can get a city moving violation in certain situations, but you are going to need a lawyer for that.
Reading comprehension is golden. This link will correct MOST of the misconceptions of traffic law in this thread.

I have had my share of tickets and they were all reduced to 9 or under! I hate Mebane and I have been caught there once before and I am always careful around there, Asheboro and Spencer going down 85 to Charlotte! Never been caught in the other two just Mebane! Good luck! 6/25/2007 2:00:35 PM |

So I just got a 72 in a 55, I had one reduced to 9 under this year, and my wife has used a PJC last year for speeding so I think I cant use one b/c its in my household. Is it lawyer time? Anyone know a good one in Harnett County? What about the 15 over in a 55 zone, can I lose my liscence? 6/25/2007 3:43:54 PM |

Do some of you actually think that you are going to get by with saying "Im not sure" when a judge asks you about prior PFJ? Maybe some people would get by with it, but I imagine a lot of judges wouldnt be too happy with that response. I would say taking that road is a very very bad choice filled with potential problems. 6/25/2007 4:09:06 PM |

with the whole insurance points thing I think it depends on your provider. I know with state farm my first one didn't count (they give you a freebie), but everyone after that did if it was speeding of more than 5 over. 6/25/2007 4:11:14 PM |

^^well its usually the assistant DA if its just a speeding ticket, and the only time i tried it it worked
course its just a speeding ticket...they dont really care about anything as long as you pay your fine and court costs
they're not worried about you going back out on the streets and endangering others...they're just trying to run as many people through the drill as they can and make six figures / day / courtroom] 6/25/2007 4:20:13 PM |

Do you need to have your Drivers License when going to the courthouse??
I lost mine last night and I have a court date this Thursday for speeding. I just want to know if I need to hit up the DMV beforehand or if I can just get a dupe online and probably get it next week. 6/25/2007 4:59:38 PM |
