Quote : | "BOSTON -- The Minnesota Timberwolves and Boston Celtics, who nearly completed a blockbuster Kevin Garnett trade before the June draft, completed the megadeal Tuesday after two days of renewed talks.
The Celtics acquired Garnett, a 10-time All-Star and the NBA MVP in 2004, from Minnesota in exchange for Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes, Gerald Green, Theo Ratliff, Sebastian Telfair, a 2009 first-round draft pick and a return of Minnesota's conditional first-round pick previously obtained in the Ricky Davis-Wally Szczerbiak trade.
The Timberwolves also receive cash considerations in the deal. The 2009 pick Boston is sending to Minnesota is top-three protected." |

You didn't get a letter yesterday about open tryouts?
Seriously they will have to fill their roster with nobodys or washed up older veterans.8/2/2007 11:25:07 AM |

^you do bring up a good point actually...you had a Grant Hill sign for basically the league minimum in Phoenix just to try and win a title...I'm sure there will be another player or two who pick Boston as that destination...and I mean shit Hill would damn near start for Boston if he wasnt a wing player just because theres such a dropoff after the big 3...like the Big East or something...top heavy as hell] 8/2/2007 11:40:09 AM |

I DON'T KNOW IF THEY ARE CONTENDERS BUT I WILL STILL WATCH THEM.....YOU DON'T NEED A DEEP BENCH TO GET INTO THE PLAYOFFS....IF THE CHEMISTRY MESHES WELL BY MID SEASON NEXT YEAR THEY COULD BE DANGEROUS....ALLEN AND GARNETT ARE BOTH CLASS GUYS AND DESERVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP....PIERCE IS KINDA A THUG BUT HE IS A DAMN GOOD SCORER 8/2/2007 12:02:57 PM |

Quote : | "Celtics trying to lure retired star Reggie Miller out of retirement By JIMMY GOLEN, AP Sports Writer August 8, 2007
BOSTON (AP) -- The Boston Celtics have spoken with future Hall of Famer Reggie Miller about coming out of retirement to help the once-proud franchise in its push for an unprecedented 17th NBA title.
"I'm always flattered when my name is mentioned as someone who can still help an NBA team win a championship," Miller said Wednesday in a statement relayed to The Associated Press by the TNT network. "I've had limited discussions with Celtics management about their roster and a potential role for me. At this time, I'm enjoying my role as an analyst with TNT."
ESPN.com was the first to report the talks.
Celtics officials did not respond to requests for comment. Miller's agent, Arn Tellem, declined comment.
Miller, who will turn 42 this month, played 18 seasons, all with the Indiana Pacers, before retiring in 2005. He is 13th on the league's career scoring list with 25,279 points and the leader in 3-pointers made and attempted.
His uniform No. 31 was retired by the Pacers last year." |
