and I don't know how much race will be a factor. I'd like to think it would be a non-issue, but i don't know. Politics can be a game of inches--and race may or may not have an impact in one direction or another.8/9/2007 12:46:51 AM |

honestly i got a feeling, barring the absence of a third party candidate, that its gonna be like 50/50 this coming election 8/9/2007 12:54:27 AM |

i don't know. the republicans haven't really come with a candidate that seems like a formidable opponent yet. thompson might be that person, but there's the question of whether he's just too lazy. giuliani might win some votes right now because of his name recognition, but i can't see republicans really getting behind him in 11/08. this election is the democrats' to lose. i think that if they nominate hillary they might very well lose because of her polarizing nature. i think that an obama, edwards or richardson would have a better chance on a national stage than hillary. 8/9/2007 2:40:53 AM |

i think its either gonna be hillary or obama, and either way the repubs can get half of the nation with either of those 2 candidates imo...because one is a woman and one is a negro 8/9/2007 7:09:35 AM |

Did anyone catch Barack Obama's appearance on the Daily Show?
I recall Jon Stewart asking him something along the lines of what the next major campaign news story will be, and Barack replied "Whatever sells the most papers," although that may not be exactly verbatim.
Anyway, that comment made me
I didn't know you could make that shot. 8/28/2007 8:55:34 PM |

Dunno if anybody else is going to the fundraiser tomorrow at NCCU, but it's been moved to the football stadium and pushed up to 3:00 (instead of 4:00). Just a heads up. 10/31/2007 10:03:10 PM |

Early estimates put the attendance at ~4k, which if true, means that attendance at Barack Obama's fundraising rally was greater than the attendance at John Edwards' fundraising rally back in June.
Take from that what you will... 11/1/2007 6:28:51 PM |

I thought it was a really good speech. Got to shake his hand, which was neat.

NPR did a poor job of selecting the quotes they would air from his appearance in Durham yesterday.
1) The mayor of Durham is taking time off his campaign to be here.
lol
2) I'm going to change the way politics is done in Washington.
Well, the way they do things in Washington is saying nothing more than feel good/cheerleader statements without getting into actual specifics. "I'm going to get the troops home." "We're going to fix Social Security." How?
Then NPR had some clips of people that were in attendance saying how much they agreed with his platform. I can't help but wonder why NPR chose not to air a few of those Obama quotes. 11/2/2007 6:13:39 AM |

it wasn't really a specific speech. but that wasn't really the point. it was a very good/inspiring/entertaining speech. i enjoyed it. and i have to say that obama is far funnier than i thought he would be. not that it's really a skill that a president needs, but i was pleasantly surprised. 11/2/2007 11:59:50 AM |
