so, is there a precedent for moving from closer to starter in mid-season? because palp was going to start before moving back to closer. with gagne in the pen, is it possible palp becomes the 5th starter? 7/31/2007 4:18:27 PM |

i heard they were considering moving palp to setup and letting gagne close, since he really wants to do that 7/31/2007 4:21:24 PM |

they're gonna pay gagne nicely to keep him happy setting up, basically giving him the incentives he was getting paid to close. paps will keep closing, unless he is actually hurt.
rotation will soon be (not in this order) beckett schill dice-k lester wakefield 7/31/2007 4:47:27 PM |

The Red Sox bullpen is pretty damn lights out now too.
6th - Delcarmen 7th - Okajima 8th - Gagne 9th - Papelbon
What is even more impressive is that each of those pitchers has a completely different style so the opposing team's batters will be constantly adjusting each inning.
If the Mets add Cordero, then that makes their 7-9 innings extremely tough. 7/31/2007 5:53:25 PM |
