^ yeah so i helped toyotafj40s with his wheels. This one was originally painted all gold so we stripped it down and gave it a polished lip with a kinda gun metalish paint job. finished in less than a day.

jeez man you just never give up and keep digging yourself in deeper. I've done a bunch of rims with them still wrapped in the tires. At any rate his wheels have been washed about 3 times already and have been on a running bike oh and in the rain cuz it was pouring like hell in Raleigh yest afternoon. No im not a mechanic but i have knowledge about certain projects and how to complete them correctly. I assume you can do simple math and prove 1+1 = 2 but i sure as hell know ur no mathematician.

graz the pic you posted is of chemically stripping silver paint, i have stripped 30 and 40 year old paint off cars with the stuff with great sucess- so i tried it on these wheels. the aircraft stipper was on my wheel for 45 minutes, no effect even on the weathered and chipped clearcoat. they are not painted on the surfaces i was focusing on, and even the painted sections it didnt penetrate. to make sure i had a good can, i sprayed it on my steelie spare and it ate through to reveal 4 layers of paint. something about these wheels is different from typical clear coat.

when i wet sand the wheels i have to start wetsanding with 220 to make a dent in the coating, and then work it over with 320 and 400 before i can even think of polishing it. even that sometimes isnt smooth enough.
