I wouldn't count that as a school shooting.

so you did it in 6th grade at age 12...but 7th grade at age 13 is indeed creepy?

my favorite was always the simple yet effective rubber band and paper clips. attach staples or straight pins to the paper clip for added effect.

so there were 6x as many students in the 90's as there were in the 80's?

What a bunch of retarded assholes.

I drew a single point perspective desert scene in elementary school that had helicopters, a tank, a gun, a few cow skulls, and some other random shit (maybe a knife or something) because I had seen mad max recently and thought I'd draw something in the desert. It looked a whole lot better than what that kid drew, and I got an A on it (and no complaints about me being a threat to society).

Back then there were fucking bomb threats and they locked down the high school near me because people were calling, threatening that they had bombs set up in cars around the school or some shit and that they had people with guns in the woods that would kill anybody if they left the school. The reality? Some buttheads wanted to get out of class and had been watching too much TV (and they got to talk to the police!).

It's definitely that the issue is so sensationalized that people are flipping out about it these days with this zero tolerance bullshit. They should be more concerned about kids with violent tendencies or kids from violent neighborhoods. Give all the kids some sort of psychological evaluation annually, throughout the school year, just have one on-staff at every school that meets with 30 kids a day throughout the whole semester. Maybe more for big schools.

Oh well, end rant. Just the same thing that everybody else has already said. Maybe if they put some research into the warning signs that violent kids show (not just gun crime kids, the ones that threaten violence often, that get into fights often, that bring knives to school), and in their background, they could predict which kids are going to be trouble and which ones need to get some special counseling attention so the risk of this sort of thing is reduced (it might bring the suicide rate down too). Would be better than just snapping at every kid that drew a gun once in their lives. Me and all my brothers would all be suspended from public school by the 9th grade if they kept this shit up then...

K... End rant now. (This rant brought to you by my Aidsabeetus)

It's a good thing they suspended him. Now he has plenty of time to gather weapons for the real thing.

I like the dude surfing the gun and the smiley faces on it

Was it Nelson from the Simpsons who said "I drew gun shooting guns" or something to that extent?

No way, I still draw guns today when I'm bored in class.

But I have ADD.

In high school we had to do a project based on a book we had read. I did mine on All Quiet on the Western Front. I build a styrofoam battleground with painted plastic army men, some were charging into machine gun fire, others were lying dead and dismembered, One was only a torso lying in a pool of blood in a crater, etc, etc.

My teacher LOVED it, she actually asked if she could keep it to show students in future classes an example of an A project. It's still in her room today.

yea in HS i did a project on world war II. I was lucky enough to draw an low number so i got to choose early before other people and took the D-Day invasion

took one of those big thick foamboard things built terrain and sand and water on it, built all the rows of barricades and obstacles..but hte best part were the army men and getting to dismember them and cover them in dark red nail polish

im sure other people have done similar things like ^ and mine. was fun times

the school administration is over-reacting to something that hardly even resembles a gun drawing, much less it doesn't even show any acts of violence. That whole school system should be embarrassed.

I think that all the kids in the school should copy that same drawing in all their classes, to show how fucking stupid the administration is being.

In 7th grade a friend and I got into a contest to see who could write the most horrifically violent story about us killing the teachers and taking over the school.

The teacher read both to the class because they were so good. I feel like the same thing would get you locked up these days.

my parents got called in for a conference with a teacher over some cartoons a friend and i were drawing back and forth about each other dying. 8th grade... 1991 i guess... way before the craze hit.

then again my parents got called in for a conference every time any stupid thing happened. they had to spend way too much time dealing with stupid young teachers who couldnt deal with children who happened to be smart and bored. not that this kid was either, i am just remembering out loud. i am curious (slightly) to hear about other disciplinary problems the kid has on his PERMANENT RECORD, cause i wouldn't be surprised if this was a "bad" kid.

im glad the school system was able to have a hand in molding me into what i became. it should be interesting over the years to watch more and more kids come out who 'blindly' hate authority and struggle with real life until they are able to keep that under control.

when I was in elementary school- 1st or 2nd grade- we used to draw guns and cut them out so we could play cops and robbers on the playground. nobody cared because we were children playing.

I used to draw shit much worse as everybody else said. I also used to sit in class, church, etc. and think about blowing the motherfucker up, killing EVERYBODY in there, SAVING everybody in there, and fucking becoming the emperor of the world. I, of course, did none of it. Back then it was called bored little boy who is daydreaming and doodling, not chainsaw serial killer in training. Fuck I was Mr. Doom/Wolfenstein and every other sorta rotten ass game and used to bring the books to school and shit. I woulda been one expelled motherfucker if I was a kid now in one of these uptight fucking school systems.

the only thing i can imagine is that the kid was trouble and/or had already been verbally threatening kids/teachers and the gun was just enough to get him suspended. i'd love some kind of statement from the teacher or whoever that took the drawing as a serious threat.
