I don't really see the crime here, but I'm always tickled (though not surprised) to learn that another homo-flaming Republican is actually a flaming homo.

"Well, I don't know where the Senate's going to be on that issue of an up or down vote on impeachment, but I will tell you that the Senate certainly can bring about a censure resolution and it's a slap on the wrist. It's a, "Bad boy, Bill Clinton. You're a naughty boy." The American people already know that Bill Clinton is a bad boy, a naughty boy.

I'm going to speak out for the citizens of my state, who in the majority think that Bill Clinton is probably even a nasty, bad, naughty boy. The question issue now is simply this: Did he lie under oath? Did he perjure himself and did he obstruct justice? And that's where we're trying to go now in this truth-seeking process."

Taken from interview in 1999 during the Lewinsky scandal.

Almost makes him sound as gay as this scandal.

you won't hear me suggest such a thing all that often, but we have to accept the fact that anti-gay legislation and public sentiment over the years has pushed gays to this kind of behavior, keeping it in the shadows."

Well, first of all, I am gay so don't lecture me about what "the gays" have been pushed into doing. I grew up in small-town North Carolina, as did many people I know, and I can say with 100% certainty that the thought of sex in a public airport restroom (or any public place, really) has never crossed my mind.

I do know for a fact that a certain subculture finds this behavior titillating and convenient, but even within the gay "community" they would be on the fringes -- the nasty perv-dom, if you will. My personal suspicion is that Senator Craig engages in this behavior not only because it's anonymous, but because it's public.

Quote :
"there's no crime against signaling that you want sex. The officer knew the signals and then responded to them in a way that could naturally be construed as an affirmative to the other person. Not to mention that the officer went in there and sat in a fucking stall for 13 minutes, waiting to do just such a thing. it's shady, at best."

Well, what was the officer supposed to do? Actually have sex with him?

To me there's no crime in signaling that you want sex, but in my view there is a crime in doing it in a public restroom, in this manner. Imagine a somewhat different scenario and you can see where this is leading --

Instead of the officer, it was a perfectly normal individual (of any age, including minors) using the bathroom for its intended means. He's sitting there, and the creepy old perv is staring in and making signals. Maybe he misinterprets and starts rubbing your feet. Or he waits around and stares into all the stalls.

IMO it's totally gross and it should be illegal for the same reason that public nudity is generally illegal. There is a substantial "order" component to the notion of "Law and Order," and blocking creepy pervdom from public restrooms is up there on the list.

^Yeah, that was a good one.

"Smoker4: I don't really think he has an excuse, personally. Senators and congresspeople by their nature spend a lot of time in a very gay-friendly place -- DC. I am sure over the years Senator Craig has had many outlets for his homosexuality while he's away from home by tapping into the gay culture at large there.

In fact, blogactive (which attempts to out such people) reports just that:"

Yeah, but all they reported was the same old anonymous restroom thrill encounters.

I just think we should keep in mind that he is an older man who had less options than folks today (not that folks today have it super easy...). And we should remember that almost all politicians are hypocrites because they always have to vote with the party and then their people...their personal opinions don't ever really get to come out to play.

Anyway, another thing that weirds me out about this practice is that what if he propositioned the wrong person? And by wrong person, I mean some super bigot who enjoys rearranging people's faces just for fun. This coulda gone so much worse for Craig.

this is really turning into a media frenzy.

as much as I dont like the guy (his anti-environment positions) ... I'm starting to feel uncomfortable with the way this guy is getting torn to bits. the republican party has basically thrown him under the bus

what if he really wasn't guilty of what he was accused of? apparently Sen. Craig disagreed with the arresting officer on every detail of the incident, while he was being questioned by the officer.

I guess in the end, it comes down to the fact that he did plead guilty to the charge.

if you assume he's not a hypocritical liar, it means a 3-term US Senator with 27 years in US Congress just got steamrolled by a Minnesota county prosecutors office.

damn. no matter how you look at it, what a stupid thing to do.

I can't really have any sympathy for hypocrites. They deserve their place in the 8th circle.

well, i agree with you about hypocrites.

but reading the latest report about how Craig and the arresting officer disagreed about every single detail of the incident... I'm inclined to pause and consider the possibility if maybe he really wasn't guilty, that the officer was overzealous....

i mean, probably not, its not like the officer knew had any idea who he was, and i'm inclined to believe the cop in this situation....

but im just thinking how Craig could really have beat this charge if he had gotten a lawyer and let it go to court. it would have been he-said-she-said with a police officer vs. a US Senator. Craig could have rode it out.

So... I dunno. Im just thinking.

Theres one thing for sure: It sure must suck to be him.

He fucked up by pleading guilty. No question on that one, unless he really would've been exposed in court. The other thing is this isn't the first time he's had these accusations.

Here he actually holds a press conference to deny gay accusations even though he hadn't been named. And he was accused of bathroom sex in Union Station last fall.

Is there a name for the type of behavior we're seeing with all these guys?

When someone rejects their nature and adopts an opposite lifestyle to compensate?

"Craig supporters call for boycott of Minneapolis airport

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

BATTLE GROUND, Wash. -- Supporters of Sen. Larry Craig with the American Land Rights Association are calling for a boycott of the Minneapolis-Saint Paul Airport.

The Battle Ground (Washington) based association says airport police who arrested the senator in a men's room sex sting are responsible for weakening private property rights in the West. Craig is a Republican member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.

The American Land Rights Association, which has an office in Washington, D-C, advocates for the use of federal lands and against what it calls federal "land grabs."

The association says the airport should apologize to Craig for what it calls "ambushing" the senator.

Craig is trying to withdraw his guilty plea in the Minnesota case, and if he can do that he would change his mind about resigning."

We've touched on a lot of the bases here.

But no one has mentioned the class issue yet.

Another thing that makes this behavior so pathetic is that always seems to be older, wealthier men and less affluent, young kids. That kind of exploitation is inevitable in our society but it's still really sad.

it's simple. just ask two questions:

where is Mr. Old Balls gonna get sex?

why would young gals/guys ever want to have sex with Mr. Old Balls?

^True, but you're missing one question...

Why can't Mr. Old Balls 1 settler for Mr. Old Balls 2?

For some of those guys, the exploitation is part of the fun. It's not always just out of necessity or essential attraction.

He really ought to just stay resigned and move on with his life--retire and move to Florida where he can play golf and have anonymous sex in the retirement home poolhouse. If he somehow does manage to withdraw his guilty plea, I assume that would then mean facing a trial over the charges, in which all kinds of other details would come to light and receive a LOT more press than they've already gotten. All the major news media outlets have given relatively little time to the previous accusations and speculation regarding past gay encounters, and you just know that would be brought up at some point in the trial, whether it gets thrown out and objected to or not.

This is why people hate gays

Quote :
"But let's go back a few pages to the popular airport tearoom's halcyon days, beginning in the Fall of 2006:

This place is probably the most active public place I have ever seen.I even had one of the washroom attendents was check me out when I was [pleasuring myself] in the very back urinal area. Arrived early for a departure and came through the airport at 5:30 am. Only one guy in a stall. I went in beside him and another guy immediately looked in and took the other stall. He waved his hand under and I got to my knees and let him feel my XL [poultry related euphemism]. I was looking to get [pleasured] so I pulled back and gave it to the guy on the other side who started [pleasuring me] under the stall. I moved into his stall and was pleasantly surprised with some good [pleasuring technique]. I got nervous and left the stall only to get [pleasured] by two mor guys in two other stalls. Everyone knew what was going on & were there to [give pleasure]. Apparently early AM is great. (FYI- I don't live here, only travel through.) It seems that wherever I travel and post my experiences from there, I get a lot of offers to hook up in that town. I'm still getting offers from DFW from three months ago. I do travel to MSP four or five times a year, but don't live here."
