Hard to say
If Apple unveils a WiFi & browser-equipped iPod, it will def. be intruding in on the iPhone market. But i'd love to see it. 9/5/2007 12:32:13 PM |

I've looked at so many supposed patents concerning this new iPod, I don't know what it's going to look like...
Does anyone remember a while ago, a patent surfaced with a touch-sensitive surface on the BACK of the device. The front being just one big touchscreen. They actually showed a virtual scroll wheel on the back.
It is a very interesting situation, IMO. There's a fine line they've got to draw somewhere to distinguish the iPhone from the iPod. I doubt it will be JUST the phone part. But man, I'm hoping. 9/5/2007 12:35:19 PM |

I'd be down with a wifi Iphone sans the phone part. I destroy phones on a regular basis, but I've managed to keep a Palm pilot alive for 7 years. All I want from a phone is an on/off button, and be semi-disposable.
I played with a friend's Iphone this weekend. Very functional form factor, and browsing was very intuitive. Get a bluetooth keyboard going with it and it could damn near replace a laptop for most of my uses. 9/5/2007 12:35:22 PM |

there's no need to, nor do they need to add a radio since neither seems to be hurting ipod sales. just add a touchscreen & coverflow and they know people will buy it. it's marketing. once the touchscreen hype dies down (& iphone sales level off), then maybe they'll add wifi support... maybe.9/5/2007 12:49:05 PM |

looks like they're gonna let you 'make' your own ringtones from songs you've bought. Only 500k 'participating' songs on iTunes, though? wtf is that?
oh, looks like you get to pay .99 extra too. That's BS

They're saving all the flash for the full size models.
What I meant was, the screen on the nano is now as big as the iPod video (old)

It's called the iPod Touch.
10:32am - "It's the same size screen as the iPhone, but it's even thinner. It's 8mm thin. Unbelievable. The new iPod touch. It's one of the 7 wonders of the world." Laughter.
0:33am - "It features our revolutionary multi-touch interface that you've come to know and love on the iPhone. If you've used an iPhone you'll feel at home, it's exactly the same. Scroll through the artists with a flick of your finger. Turn it into a landscape position, it goes into Cover Flow, it's just magical."
10:34am - "All on this 8mm device. Let's look at video... all on this gorgeous 3.5-inch widescreen display. And photos... just like the iPhone this is the best way to share photos on a portable device. Ever. Flick through them, pinch them to make them larger or smaller." |
screw the iphone, i'll take an ipod touch
