i've been in the ER a total of three times (car wreck, sprained ankle, swollen tonsils... nothing remotely life threatening) and the least time i've ever spent in there is five hours

i don't know if you would call this case racist or prejudiced, but the whites are blatantly viewed and treated as far superior than the black students

true, but it was a fight at a high school... i've heard of numerous occurrences even here in wake county where it was a group of kids against one or two others... never seen so much publicity dedicated to a little brawl...

I know I saw fights where people that weren't involved would jump in in the heat of the moment and throw a cheap shot or two. I didn't think it was right, but these charges are rediculous.

There was a similar racist tension at my high school a couple semesters ago, pretty funny story actually. Fights and stuff, I think it got capped off when one guy was arrested when they found guns in his trunk that he was showing to someone in the student parking lot. They also suspended every punk kid (black clothes, chains, etc) that they saw around school for dressing like that, since it was a punk vs black situation.

This whole story pisses me off. It's the blatant unequal enforcement of the law. Those kids got suspended for three freaking days for a stunt that amounts to a death threat against the entire black population. The six guys shouldn't have attacked that white kid, but that attempted murder charge is fucking ridiculous and indicates the disparity in treatment.

This is an attack that took place before the six guys assaulted the white kid. That involved multiple people and no one besides the original attacker was charged.

The whole thing is BS. I don't condone the black kids attacking in any way, shape, or form and there's probably a good deal of misinformation floating out there. But based on what's available everything indicates that white people getting a slap on the wrist for their crimes and authority figures turning to the blacks and saying "you better learn your place".

Outside of the expulsion recommendation (which was overruled) there's no account anywhere of authority figures giving any real indication that ever gave a fuck about easing racial tensions and making a safe, friendly environment at the school.

If you really think that the noose thing was actually a death threat or any of these students intended to hang one of the black kids, I think you are being a little too emotion over this. I think its more of a symbol( stupid one) than a threat.

Besides, it looks like a nice tree. Im sure they didnt want to see an old couch in front of it, and three sat. dishes on it.

indeed it was. the overarching point I was trying to illustrate was that it's completely unfair to discredit the nooses as a death threat and call it a prank. I'm sure the situation escalated after the noose hangings. I'm sure there were things that happened before the noose hangings that just aren't mentioned.
The purpose of me highlighting those incidents was to show that there is in fact a threat of violence/death associated with the hanging of a noose by these individuals.



kind of like if I talk about robbing a bank...but the media never reports it...
then the police find me with the plans to rob a bank...and I said "hahah, it's a joke"
and then a week later, I go and rob a bank or two...

You can make a death threat without ever intending to follow through on it. It's clearly a move to intimidate black students in what was already a racially hostile environment. Its effect is essentially the same as a death threat, scare the offending party into backing down.

Yeah, I read up on this story some a couple of weeks ago. Of course Jemele Hill had to throw it in one of her articles as more evidence of racism and unfair media coverage, since not many people have heard about these kids.

From what I read, the DA is a racist asshole and the kids facing charges are thugs that would have been kicked out of school a while ago if they weren't good football players. They don't deserve to face murder charges, however.

The problem I have with this kind of sensationalist media coverage is that no one really knows the background and everything that happened. You got 6 black kids saying they weren't even there when the guy got his ass kicked, 40 white kids saying that they were trying to kill him, and a bunch of 3rd party observers drawing conclusions about a town they've never been to. It's kinda like what happened in the Duke Lacrosse case when everybody just rushed to judgement. Sometimes it's best to just wait for all the facts to come out before crying racism or bloody murder.

The fact they kept changing where that guy was speaking seemed kind of cheesy. And he said Bell had been sentenced to a maximum of 22 years when he hadn't been sentenced at all. He laters mentions that the sentencing hasn't taken place, which makes that part confusing. Otherwise a pretty good video.
