someone lied to wtvd
they were like "it's gonna be around 6:30 before it gets turned off"
and then they ran an e coli package
oops- missed the live shot of it going out

just got back from it
cant remember exactly when but it was close to 5 when the fire went out
but it was shitty cause we were changing out crews when they finished.
our engine just started flowing water a few minutes before that
so they got to leave and we had to clean up our stuff
fun night so far 10/10/2007 7:05:45 PM

our jobsite trailer at WM Cary is like maybe 100 yards from the fire
i was gonna go down there today, good thing i put it off till after lunch
our superintendent said you could feel the heat from the trailer. there were firemen/officials walking all over the site taking temperature & (i'm assuming) gas/air quality readings. WM Cary actually had to move some people out of that side of the building, and parts of the Women's Center, b/c they could feel the heat through the windows ![](images/eek.gif) 10/10/2007 7:25:11 PM

wral now says 80k gallons/hr so if this fire lasted 7 hours = 560k gallons but apparently cary doesn't care about using all that water

I was pissed at the traffic. I had to go from Tryon to Cary Pkwy to 1 to get back on 64 to come home today. Traffic was horrendous. I certainly hope that everyone was ok. 10/10/2007 8:08:03 PM

you have to weigh risk vs. gain. The water was necessary to prevent further damage to the surrounding area from radiant heat, including power lines. And from causing other issues from a diesel tank leak (fire) that is worse for the environment. LNG burns very clean, little if any environmental issues, diesel on the other hand is nasty for the environment. That and Cary has been on year round water restrictions for a while now, and really isn't in as big of a crunch as the surrounding areas that refused to take actions earlier. a half million gallons in the grand scheme isn't that much. 10/11/2007 5:54:27 AM
