yes. i'm pretty sure the red car has to yield because it has a stop sign. if it did not, then regulations require some indication of who has to yield.
would this happen to be the Nazareth and Western intersection? 10/14/2007 5:55:01 PM

If you are making a turn and you have a green ball, you must yield to pedestrians.
If you are making a turn and you have a green arrow, you do not have yield to pedestrians.

This should be a non issue since you are supposed to turn into your first available lane (left lane for the blue car, right lane for the red car). However, I would think that the car with the stop sign would have to yield to the free flowing traffic. 10/14/2007 7:13:02 PM

Somewhere in my driver's education material was written the phrase "Pedestrians always have the right of way". I don't remember where I saw it, but if a pedestrian enters the street (even illegally), you must yield the right of way. 10/14/2007 9:03:03 PM

At the intersection of Dan Allen and Western some dumbass always tries to U-Turn w/o yielding eventhough I have a green arrow to turn right.

unless its a wide fucking median or you drive a motorcycle their is no way to turn into the first avaliable lane when doing a u-turn.

You can quote it, but it's still wrong.
Blue car has the right of way since it is on the right. You don't know if he's making a u-turn or turning left onto the red car's road. So until you find out, you'd better sit at that stop sign.
Unless, of course, there is a "U-turn must yield" sign.
Posted again, the relevant statute:
Quote : | " § 20-155. Right-of-way.
(a) When two vehicles approach or enter an intersection from different highways at approximately the same time, the driver of the vehicle on the left shall yield the right-of-way to the vehicle on the right. " |

hmm...and when the blue car makes a u-turn, the red car is on it's right. so what's your point? But the red car is on a side street with a stop sign while the blue car is on a main roadway, so I'd think the red car should wait unless the blue car isn't already waiting at the light.
^ and I'm amazed at how many people can't grasp that concept at a 3 or 4-way stop.

that's right.
it matters that there was a stop sign and not a traffic light. both of those situations have different rules. in this case, with the stop sign, blue would have had the right of way (see above). even if blue had also had a stop sign (4-way stop), blue would have had the right of way because it was to the right.
if there had been a traffic light, then it would depend on who had what color and type (arrow or solid) of light and if there were any signs such as "no u-turn" or "u-turn must yield".] 10/15/2007 6:37:36 PM
