Yea no shit you have to have it. Of course I have homeowners. Hell in some ways it would probably help me, as the wall nearest to the oak tree has some slight settlement issues. If a branch fell from the oak and fucked that wall up some, then I could get it repaired for my deductible. And staying somewhere isn't an issue, my grandparents live in a massive 4 bedroom house around the block, so we would be fine if my house burned to the ground today.
But I don't want to fork out a grand, pay higher insurance premiums, and more importantly, worry about a fucking tree landing in one of my kids rooms. I have a lot more to be responsible for than just myself. Though if we have another hurricane, I will just go to my grandparents house to weather the storm and hope everything is alright at my house. 10/17/2007 8:38:25 AM

i was one of the idiots driving around during Isabel a few years ago taking pictures and video. I was driving through the middle of the eye of Alex the year after that right as it passed over Buxton and had a power line fall on the truck. I've gone drum fishing as the "eye" came over the northern Outer Banks (best fishing EVER). I haven't left for one tropical system in the 20+ years I've lived out here on the coast. Yes, we lost a tree once, lost power for multiple days a couple times, had 4 feet of water in my yard multiple times. Heck, I even was out in a paddle boat going down the middle of the street one time and was even with the hood of a lifted pickup that was driving by.
Bring on a cat 1 or 2 with tons of rain and some wind. 10/17/2007 9:21:32 AM
