Anyone watch History of the World Part II? I was a big fan of the original movie but the show seemed like it was trying too hard. It was lacking a lot of the charm that Mel Brooks brings, even though he was the exec producer. It felt like it was the final project by students in a comedy writing class taught by Mel Brooks.

^The Alexander Graham Bell prank call skit was funny, but the ongoing Civil War one was meh (except for the "Fuck the North" song and BJ from Righteous Gemstones in general). It seemed like it was trying too hard to be drunk history or The Whitest Kids You Know's "Civil War on Drugs".

I'm a few episodes into Shogun and glad I stuck with it. I want to try to find the 1980 mini-series after I finish this one.

^^I haven't seen Shogun, I just assumed it spanned the enire length of the book, so that a 2nd season would have to either create new content or be kind of a prequel / flashback or something.

Just finished the first season. Yeah, kinda weird it won a bunch of "comedy" emmys. It's definitely got some funny moments, but it's mostly frenetic and a bit depressing.

Ok i finished reservation dogs and man i loved this show. I laughed, i cried, i contemplated life. Just a masterpiece of television. Goddamn.

It was hilarious, and I fought-back tears more than a couple times. It really was incredibly done, everything about it. I hated to see it end, but glad it did on its own terms. Yep, a masterpiece.
