My only concern is our team not getting up for the game.
I know this shouldn't be as big a deal this year as others have been, but they did just come off a last second win over Miami.....Have faith in Obrien is what I should believe.
But belief in NC State isn't always the smartest thing. 11/4/2007 9:49:39 PM |

I remember that when TOB was asked about the Carolina game, he said something the effect of "I know how important that game is" and also once said, "I was at Virginia for a long time, so I know the ABC rule very well." I'd like to see how those stats have looked in the "new season". 11/4/2007 9:51:45 PM |

I had no clue we were #1 in the nation at "Punt return yardage defense"
HELL YEAH!! NO PUNT RETURNS 4 U!!!!
Rank Name Returns Punt Return Yards TDs Yards Per Return Wins Losses Ties 1 North Carolina St. 12 32 0 2.67 4 5 0
that being said... I hope we aren't beat up too much after the Miami win. b/c carolina has been pwning us the last few years.
and they've posted decent #'s versus some pretty good teams this year
I hate them so bad..

I know you’ve heard this song and dance before, but this year there is a huge difference: CHUCK AMATO IS GONE. The last three years State should’ve beaten Carolina, but they played undisciplined, uninspired football, while the Heels laid it all out on the field. There is absolutely no chance that’s going to happen this year.
If State has some costly turnovers, Brandon Tate runs a kick back, or something flukey happens the Tar Heels can win this football game. But there is no chance they are going to out-physical and out-effort State the way they have in the last few years.
After the Central Florida loss Tom O’Brien said that his players may have had “an over inflated view of themselves.” There is no doubt that he was right. That’s what Amato did. He made Florida kids that wouldn’t have suited up at the U, for the Gators, or FSU believe they were better than they were. OB came to town and told them Amato was wrong. For the first time since the Sheridan days State is winning because they are smarter than the opponent. That is a tremendous advantage, especially against an inex
People have been rolling their eyes at me all year over my cosntant support of Tom O’Brien. I think that is starting to become vindicated. O’Brien’s team plays smart, sound football. It may not appear on a sportscenter highlight reel, but it gets the job done. Whatever clicked three weeks ago now has State looking like it has a real chance to make it to bowl game.
Moreover, I am so glad that both programs are headed in the right direction. Hosting a statewide call in show is difficult if both teams have no hope. But now you can clearly tell that both schools are headed for lots of success in the coming years. Early in the process it seems State has the advantage.

Yeah, Tom O'brien coming to NC State is an amazing thing. I am starting to gain hope that I can stop referring to blowing a lead as "pulling an NC State" as we have been playing much smarter down the stretch.

Our secondary has gotten burned quite often but luckily we haven't faced a QB that can get it to them. Carolina will run it down our throats, but expect yates to have a pretty good game himself if our front 4 can't get their hands on him.

not a bad resume for a walk-on, but still, is Miguel Scott really that bad? Never seemed great, but never seemed terrible to m either. Anyway, here's the GoPack bio on Leonard's high school days...
Prep: A four year letterman at Moon Township HS ... Head coach was NC State football alumni Mark Capuano ... Recorded over 1500 all-purpose yards as a senior, including 14 touchdowns ... Averaged 18 yards per punt return, including two for scores ... Had two kickoff returns go for touchdowns and averaged 24 yards a return ... Was a co-captain his senior year ... Member of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette Fabulous 22 ranking defensive backs, running backs and kick returners ... Notched a team-high seven interceptions ... Unanimous first-team all-Parkway conference, playing running back, defensive back, kick returner and punter ... Second-team all-state as a cornerback ... Nominated to the Pennsylvania Big 33 ... First team defensive back in the Penn/Ohio All-Star Classic ... First team All-WPIAL Quad A offense and defense selection.11/5/2007 9:00:32 PM |

Quote : | "The first six weeks you questioned the talent and drive of your team. Was there a purpose for that? The idea was for them to understand it's going to take a little bit harder work than they thought it would take, especially on the practice field. Part of it was the scheme. They weren't used to it and they thought they could just show up and perform. That doesn't happen, especially against the teams in the leagues we are playing. You have to practice well, you have to prepare well, and you've got to make a commitment to do what you have to do. If you do that you're going to have an opportunity to win football games. If you don't, you're going to lose. It's pretty cut and dry.
Do you believe what you were saying or was it more motivational? I believed it. I wouldn't have said it. I don't try to motivate my team by what I tell you. I don't talk to them through you at all, so we can get that straight right now. " |

Yo, Leonard is my roommate.......he works hard as hell and he's a very good football player. I wouldn't worry to much about him being in the game. He's ready and trust me he wants nothing more than to drop the hammer on Tate and Nicks and win this game.
And Robbie has been on scholarship since last season. He was originally suppose to go to Penn State and play but his credits from high school were all messed up since he moved back and forth from PA to NC and he got stuck at Washington and Jefferson for a year before NCSU picked him up. 11/5/2007 11:25:29 PM |

whats funny is the most times our secondary has gotten burned is on 3rd downs when Archer calls that dumb 3-3-5 defense and blitzes Thomas Barnes. UVA and ECU ripped us new ones during the first halves of those games when we used it. We stopped in the 2nd half, and they stopped killin us on 3rd downs.11/5/2007 11:29:00 PM |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_North_Carolina_State_University
Quote : | "Although established in 1887, the North Carolina State University story begins in 1862 when President Lincoln signed the federal Morrill Land-Grant Act. This Act created endowments that were to be used in the establishment of colleges that would provide a “liberal and practical education” while focusing on military tactics, agriculture and the mechanical arts without excluding classical studies.
During Reconstruction, North Carolina allocated its endowment to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. For two decades, that university received $7,500 annually from the endowment. In the mid-1880s, both state farmers and business leaders claimed that Chapel Hill’s "elitist" education did not meet the mandate set forth by the Morrill Land-Grant Act. On March 7, 1887 the North Carolina General Assembly authorized the establishment of North Carolina College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts. The state also budgeted money for the new college and transferred North Carolina's land-grant endowment to it as well. R. Stanhope Pullen gave land towards the establishment of the new college in Raleigh. Construction began on the Main Building (now called Holladay Hall) in 1888 and the college formally opened on October 3, 1889." |
Guys this is what it's all about. NC State was created to correct the Chapel Hill mistake. This rivalry has gone on long before we were here, and before the University was even created. It's time for The Real School of the People to kick that elitist institution's ass all over the field. Tailgate with reckless abandon, and have F Bomb Alley in full effect. It's time for the wolves to eat some sheep. WHEN WE HONGRY, WE EAT!
