my friend recommended these clubs
- Elevate (elevatelounge.com) - get there before 9:30pm to avoid the line. The place is not as big... capacity is limited
- J-lounge (jloungela.com) restaurant/club/lounge - much bigger, very comfortable
Hollywood clubs: Vanguard, Highlands, Cabana

oh yeah may need you to hook us up with those leno tickets

"If you're going to make suggestions and stay on the topic of the thread, then that's awesome. But shitting up an otherwise helpful thread by condescending someone who is unfamiliar with the geography of California is really not very useful. Van Nuys is a place in California; WillisBWhite has a friend there. He provided this information to supplement his original post, and you used said information to convey to the rest of us that you aren't familiar with the term "unincorporated township." Furthermore, you can draw a line on a map from Van Nuys to Torrance, so there's no need to make someone feel like they've given you erroneous information, when in reality he's given us a very clear picture of why it will be a pain in the ass for his friend to drive down from the Valley.

Also, with regard to your hasty Van Nuys High School ninja-edit, it's Sherman Oaks. "

I wasn't condescending. He said 'lives somewhere in north LA.'. And considering that there isn't an area referred to as 'North L.A.' my question was justified. If I said West, East or South L.A. people HERE would know what I was talking about but not North L.A....it's not a question of where it is on a map. He then said that upon looking at an old email,"he's in Van Nuys. That looks north of LA to me well, north-west." at which point I told him that Van Nuys is actually IN L.A. so it wouldn't be considered 'north OF it'. I wasn't making fun at anyone...I rarely make fun of anyone and considering how LITTLE I know about Raleigh, I'd certainly be the last to make fun of someone who wasn't from the area.

As for your statement that I somehow implied that I don't understand what an 'unincorporated township' is,
1) Townships in general aren't a common thing around here, I can't think of one.
2) Apparently YOU are the one unaware of what it is because if you knew, you'd realize Van Nuys isn't anything like one...

As for being a pain in the ass getting anywhere here...I hate to tell you this but it's a pain in the ass to go ANYWHERE here. I have a dr's appt tomorrow not even 10 miles from my house and I know that I'm going to have to leave an hour before and there's still a chance I'll be late. This is why I asked if he had a car because if you were in some place like Chicago or New York, then not having a car wouldn't be a problem and infact would probably be better....but in L.A. you need a car unless you're staying right in the area of where you'd want to sight see and being that I freely admitted to not knowing much about Torrance, I have no idea what sight seeing there is to do there. I've never, not once in all my years, taken a bus here (other than a school bus when we've been on a field trip). And I can count on one hand how many cabs I've taken.

As for it being 'Sherman Oaks'. Thanks for the correction. Just so you're aware, I had Sherman Oaks address from about kindergarten to 5th grade and my dad's current L.A. office is there and has been for a while so I'm well aware of how it's spelled.

I noted how good your advice was for the most part and plugged in ...MY TWO CENTS including updates on things that have changed since you've been here. If she wants to do all the touristy things then by all means, go ahead, but she said she'd already been here so I thought she was looking for something else. If my advice isn't wanted (and apparently it isn't) then I won't give it and you can consider yourself the tdub resident L.A. expert.

OuiJamn where are your seats? and how much above face did you pay? Just curious...and also, who will you be cheering for?

krazedgirl....lemme know, but also, a lot of shows tend to go on vaca too I get invites for the VIP list for random nights at various bars (I'm not a VIP and don't pretend to be a VIP but somewhere along the line my email address ended up somewhere and I get the invites so if I get any for around Turkey day, I'll forward them to you.

and Joe#s...
