As a student who has always and will forever be a fan of N.C. State athletics I have witnessed many great victories and many great struggles by our teams. This year's football team is no different having gone 1-5 in the "old" season. But things are different now as our team is UNDEFEATED in its "new" season.
This sudden 180 has me a little disappointed; not at all with our team but rather with our athletics department who won't let students storm the field when the team defeats an unbeaten ranked opponent, or even let our amazing marching band strut their stuff on the field.
I know that there are reasons (Thanks ECU fans, and our fans who aren't mature enough) why students are no longer allowed to storm the field but when your team plays as well as ours has these past few games then we should be allowed to celebrate.
At least give us something like fireworks when the team scores.
And the Marching Band, which is just as much a part of the team, should always be allowed to pump up the crowds during halftime. They don't march for forever and a day just to sit around because of "wet conditions".
The students at the game are up on their feet rallying a team of STUDENT-athletes, so why not let ALL the students celebrate on the field. We help pay for it, too, do we not?
Let us celebrate and let the band march...give them respect!

I really hope he wasn't saying we should have rushed the field against UVA. I hope that was just a general statement that we should be able to rush the field if the appropriate time ever came.11/6/2007 9:21:55 AM |

The student sections have looked pretty pathetic at kickoff the past couple of games. At least with the old ticket system, the empty seats were spread out and it wasn't entire sections that were empty.
" |
this is b.c they have to condense all the students trying to enter the game into two lines so that they can scan their tickets. With the old system this was not an issue.
The only thing i like about the new online system is it eliminates the hassle of going to reynolds to
a. get my voucher b. getting my ticket if my number is choosen.
Cons though: -New gay bullshit where the best seats are given to the first people to arrive
-paper tickets are not as cool as real tickets
-have trouble keeping track of all the sign up dates espicially during basketball season (used to be able to just show up to the RBC center for non-major games)
-ticket penalization crap

these all sound like pros to me. keeps the serious fans with good seats, and sticks the riff raff up at the top out of the way.....if they even remember to get tickets.11/6/2007 11:51:20 AM |

The only one of those I think is a con is the ticket penalization. And that is just because it doesn't work right. I cancelled a ticket last year about a day before the penalty deadline and still got charged a penalty for it.
I also wish they had reward system so that those who go to a lot games get better chances of getting tickets over those who only want to go to the three games they think matter every year. But I guess that might as well be reason to join SWPC11/6/2007 11:56:38 AM |

I agree, I love the idea because those who waste tickets shouldn't be able to get tickets anymore. But it sucks it hasn't been working right.11/6/2007 12:00:19 PM |

the only one i see that is a problem is the sign up dates during bball season (esp for small games - like tonight, the damn system says student GA tickets are all gone).
i don't see how any of the rest of it should be an issue.
yeah the lines are long - just fucking get there earlier.
people that get there first deserve to sit in the best seats. first come, first serve. how is that bullshit?

i agree. there needs to be, at the very least, a seniority system. then a rewards system. of course, i expect to see all this about the time my kids go to state.

I'm willing to deal with the bad in exchange for the good. I was still able to go to games, just had to use my friend as the group leader from then on. Thats all that happens after 1 or maybe 2 penalties in basketball. I am glad that tickets cancelled can be claimed by other students, though. I think that is good.11/6/2007 12:07:31 PM |

Let me rephrase...the majority of your outfit should be red, and there shouldn't be any random colors (green, purple, yellow, etc...). Grey, white, and black accents! I do like the red overalls though...nice touch.

They do that here at WVU, which is cool with me cus it means grad students automatically get tix
They also give underclassmen a better chance to get tickets by giving them points for attending games.
The EXACT same company runs WVU online ticketing as at State, I don't see why they can't just update the damn thing one summer.11/6/2007 2:02:47 PM |

Is this red-out official? or is it just something a couple students came up with and started spreading around?
I dont' see anything wrong with wearing a white or grey shirt as long as it is a state shirt.
i've been to every home game for the last 6 years and haven't noticed a lack of red anywhere. 11/6/2007 4:01:17 PM |

looking at the stadium, there's a shitton of red already. It'll be a lot less effective than just a whiteout of the student section or something similar. 11/6/2007 5:36:16 PM |
