It should be "Fry em," but sadly our judicial system is nothing more than Mob rule. The indictment against him could have been rendered years ago, but why now? Because this year he broke the record for home runs. Had he not set the record, or had be been a popular, well-liked athlete, prosecutors would never have touched him.

The steroids thing did not violate existing laws or MLB rules (Remember, the MLB did not ban steroids until 2002). Tons of other players used enhancements, steroids, etc. at the time Bonds allegedly did. For years baseball bigwigs, the players' union, and MLB turned a blind eye to this because players were getting more hits and scoring more runs, and thus generating revenue for everyone involved.

So Bonds could spend as many as 30 years in prison. Without a real crime having been committed, prosecutors have to fall back on perjury. Ok, even if he did knowingly use steroids and lied about it, would he be facing a prison sentence if he hadn't broken the home run record? You say, absolutely, the rule of law dictates that he committed a crime, and thus he must be punished.

Then where is the indictment against rafael palmeiro? Oh wait, he didn't break the home run record. He isn't a reviled, unpopular figure. If the law is going to be enforced here, it must be enforced fairly. Otherwise, this is nothing more than yet another chapter in the pattern of judicial abuse that runs rampant in this country.

^^the only issue i have with how the judicial system is handling this is that they'd rather prosecute this than go after more important stuff like murder, rape, etc

but seeing as they are prosecuting, i don't see how he's getting any type of unfair treatment...and its not like he's been sentenced to anything, so do any of us even know if he's being treated fairly or not?

are you really that ignorant? the feds are threatening up to a 30 year sentence. There have been mobsters that have gotten less than a tenth of that sentence for lying about a murder case.

John Bulger, the brother of the leader of the Irish mob in Boston, was threatened with 2 years imprisonment of which he only served six months for perjury. He lied about knowing of any safety deposit boxes his brother owned. The feds found out he was paying the dues on the boxes in addition to having several joint bank accounts with his brother. To top it all off, John was a magistrate at the court house. He was also convicted of giving fake IDs to his fugitive brother, of which that 6 month sentence was part of.
