speaking of father-son, Simon Harris is the son of assistant coach Larry Harris, but that certainly isnt banking Simon much playing time, though it looked like he had some good hustle and intensity when he did get some minutes late in the exhibition games and the red/white. They look so similar when I first saw him I knew they had to be related. 11/18/2007 11:50:38 PM |

i love how the blame seems to be falling on hickson.
if ben and brandon can't take him stealing their minutes, then fuck them. all i've heard about is hickson's work ethic and how committed he is to improving. i haven't heard jack shit about costner or mccauley coming in at 6am to practice every day on top of the usual practices. JJ put in the work to earn the starts. then, his play on the court is what earned him the minutes he's gotten.
if they keep acting like this, i hope sidney benches their asses. we have too many guys sitting on our bench that really care to let a couple selfish fucks tear apart our team. gavin stepped up and had a monster game. any one of the other 3 returning starters could have done the same just as easily. it was fucking new orleans. instead of letting their play speak for itself, they chose to play like shit instead. sidney would have to be an idiot to limit their minutes if they were scoring points and making plays for us.
i'd rather see 5 guys on the court giving it their all and get blown out by 20+ than see guys that don't give a fuck and let a team hang around to beat them with a last second shot. 11/19/2007 12:21:51 AM |

wait...so we don't chant a player's name because he seems like the only one on the court who wants to win? sorry, but i'm not going to stop cheering for him because mccauley and costner get their feelings hurt. how about they man up and stop being a bunch of pansies. if they want playing time or the spotlight, then earn it on the court. no one cares anymore what you did last year.

^^^^^^^ That all sounds fine. And I definitely don't think Hickson is responsible for other people's hang-ups if he is stealing their thunder/taking their playing time.
I just feel like Lowe could have handled the playing time/play calling better to make it a smoother transition for all. I mean if Costner, Fells, and McCauley are having issues, they should be able to get over them, but they are still fairly young. Speaking for me personally as a guy there age, if I was the man one year, and then the next year I was a second or third option, it would be a tough adjustment for me to make.

so far in both regular season games this season jj hicksons name has been chanted twice (at least loud enough for the whole arena to hear)...one of them was last game when he came out of the game after 31 points. the other was tonight after a siiiick spin move and dunk. 2 games and 2 chants. not after every layup. not after every dunk.
at this rate, if our team keeps playing like this....chanting for the team would practically equate to chanting for jj...he seems to be the only one playing out there (though gavin did step up tonight)11/19/2007 12:35:16 AM |

WHO IS THE TEAM LEADER???
who the fuck is it? seriously?
SOMEONE NEEDS TO STEP THE FUCK UP 11/19/2007 12:36:17 AM |
hondaguy All American 6409 Posts user info edit post |
the chant wasn't just about a dunk. It was about the timing of the dunk and his footwork to get the dunk.
Personally when I was chanting, it wasn't even so much about him. It was about the play and it hopefully providing a spark for the team. I doubt anyone would have chanted his name if they thought that was just gonna be another basket and the team was gonna still play flat.
I don't support Hickson, or Grant, or Costner, or Fells, or McCauley . . . I support NC State; however, when a NC State player makes an awesome move . . . I'm gonna let him know it.
I bet if Grant's shot had won the game and a Gavin Grant chant got going, not a single one of you would have objected to that. Yet that would essentially be no different . . . 1 play, 1 person.

both ben and brandon had their names chanted. guess its the fans fault though there too...since we spoiled them last year and now they're missing our praise so they decide to pout
and agreed with grant...and i think he has done a good job of it so far. definitely stepped up in the second half tonight. and then publicly calling out unnamed teammates in the postgame (although i'm not really sure if that was a good move or not)

If someone comes in and gets your shine, shut the fuck up, tighten up your kicks, and earn your spot. Make the plays, make the passes, grab the boards, and hustle.
If they crying and can't deal with losing time now, then they need to be sat down and learn how to ride the pine...Fuck them

great post on PP
Quote : | "We all know tonights Loss is unacceptable. Its embarrasing for everyone involved..players, coaches and us fans who have bragged to workmates and friends about how good you guys are going to be this year. But everyone loses in todays NCAA Basketball world. You cant just show up anymore and expect to win. I have a feeling thats what happened tonight and it should be a great learning lesson. Last year was a special season. One we as fans will never forget. You veterans earned a special place in our hearts. You poured it all out on the court every ACC tournament game. When the final horn blew, even though you guys didnt win the acc champ. at least you knew you gave it all you had. You earned respect not only from State fans but from Bball fans across the nation who watched a Jimmy V protege' work Jimmy V "like" magic. Well this is a new season. There is no carry over. Your floor general is gone from last year, yet the talent and depth is there to recover from losing Atsur at PG. We now have added depth down low and have recently realized we have one of, if not, the best big men in the country. The ingredients are there. This could be a top 10 or 5 team at seasons end, if you leave it all on the court. If you dont, you will see more disappointments like tonight. The solution is simple, if you want to win NC State an ACC Championship. Realize your potential and utilize your talent. The best player on the court on most nights will be on our team for a change. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THAT. IF you all will play just to win and not to put up numbers then you will go very far and then all the hype and press and notoriety will follow. Thats the way it was meant to be. Just bring it. We believe. We always have." |

I think the rotation should look like this..
Degand Grant Fells Costner (although if he doesnt get his shit together, sit him down) Hickson
First off the bench Big Ben for Costner or Hickson
Second off the bench Horner for Fells or Grant
Third off the bench Javy for Degand
Ferguson is just not an ACC caliber player. We have enough quality guys now that we shouldn't have to play guys who don't bring anything to the table besides a warm body. Fergie and Smith should get garbage minutes. If Costner keeps playing lazy on D and not going after loose balls and not crashing the boards on offense, then let smith take his place in the rotation. 11/19/2007 11:05:02 AM |

I know this is an innocent enough comment and this isn't directed at you totally...
but WHY THE FUCK do people think that this is some unknown fact? No shit the BCS is for football. There are six BCS conferences that are the dominant force in college football. Those six conferences are also the dominant force in basketball. It's a simple and easily recognizable designation for the six power conferences in both sports.
I got into an argument on here with some fag over this that went over 2 pages. "It's not a BCS conference because the BCS is only for football!!!!" Shut the fuck up. Everyone knows it's only for football. Fucking christ.11/19/2007 11:18:43 AM |
