All MMO's really just boil down to having people you enjoy playing the game with readily available. If you don't have these friends then your experience is usually pretty short (unless you're a complete loser with no friends). 12/28/2007 2:18:34 PM |

I mean how awesome is it to go into a pirate infested asteroid belt that you need to mine and defending your fellow friend's mining ship while they get the lootz.
I cant play anymore because all the guilds on my server blew up and drama drama drama away to other servers and now my GF(the only real reason I played) rerolled horde in order to stay with people she new.
And EvE has glorius ships, in space, with lasers, missles, and ever other completely nerdy shit.

DON'T RUIN THIS FOR ME!
I mean, did you play freelancer. Every single sub-mission was the exact same thing in different areas. There was absolutely no change in market prices, territories or enemy locations.
As far as a space combat system with dynamic economy and power struggles, what the hell else is there?
Point being, if you like this shit, this is the best thats out there. (Don't talk to me about X3, there is no multiplayer)

Arab, is there any skill tree I can look at while I don't have the game or a workable EvE-mon. I want to see how long it will take me to get to battlecruiser as you recommended. 12/28/2007 4:38:43 PM |
Arab13 Art Vandelay 45180 Posts user info edit post |
oh you mean just straight up how long? depends on what you set in your character creation. just a sec i have a few scouting characters that havent been developed that i can check with 12/28/2007 6:00:13 PM |
Arab13 Art Vandelay 45180 Posts user info edit post |
less than 4 days with a paid account (need a paid one for battlecruiser skill) in a week you can pretty much get a decent set of supporting skills (shield recharge, shield amount, speed, capacitor efficiency, better weapon damage)
eve is just as boring as every other MMO known to man.

Hey Arab, can you queue skills yet or do you still have to manually choose what you want to learn next 12/28/2007 6:36:41 PM |
Arab13 Art Vandelay 45180 Posts user info edit post |
you have to log in and change them manually, some are very short, usually the first level only takes 20 to 40 minutes, the second about 5 times as long, etc. 12/28/2007 10:18:01 PM |

you can manually do it faster (long paths)
market trading is probably the most boring part of the game in the beginning, if you get really good at it (rich) you can actively manipulate the market prices later on, which can be quite fun, especially when you can actively screw people over
the real fun is out in 0.0 space with an alliance, not in empire space under the protective aegis of the police.

There was a goon in WoW that took over the entire AH on his server (including alliance) and had over 3 million gold.
Its a pretty good story if any of you have an SA subscription.
For that reason I can see manipulating markets in EvE being quite fun. 12/29/2007 4:34:57 PM |

it has a tutorial now, its worth running through
Quote : | "If you got to pilot your ship using a joystick or controller, I'd do it.
But point and click in space? lawl." |
there isn't a lot of point to maneuvering a lot really, in some speed setups it matters (turret tracking vs your speed and effective transversal) but overall it doesn't make a difference, the big ships can't move fast enough to have any real effect.
best part about eve is that there are instances (complexes via exploration) that can escalate into a better instance, regular NPC pirate spawns on belts and gates (in 0.0 space they are worth some serious money, and some spawns are "special" (officers) and drop tremendously valuable items, you can run missions and get money and faction gear (special stuff), you can mine (kinda dull but can be very profitable), you can build (even more profitable if you have good prints), and there's always PVP, the primary 'endgame' is massive capital fleet pvp, station conquest, starbase destruction and ultimately sovereignty.12/30/2007 4:47:27 PM |

Missioning is fun too. I got back into the game and have been missioning out of the system Weld. My trusty destroyer has been breezing through the lvl 1 and 2 missions so far. However I'm gonna need some help on a faction storyline mission titled wispering something. I know i can get past the first part easy, but 2 of the following parts are too much for my ship. Supposedly I heard they have several cruisers which i probably wont survive. If anyone wants to help give me a message. 1/3/2008 2:27:39 PM |

Hell yeah, whats even better is if you need to take a break from eve you can set a really long lvl 5 skill to train right before your subscription runs out and it'll train up while your away from the game. Thats what I did before and am going to do again for advanced weapon upgrades, shit takes 27 days but its crucial for fitting Tier 2 weapons.
Sorry for the delayed response Arab, I wasn't around today but I'll be on tonight. I'm located in minmater space-molden heath region-constellation elfrard-weld system. If you cant make the jumps its cool. Theres a lot of other mission runners in this system I might be able to gang up with. You use jump clones right?
^^ maybe once I get a decent tackler setup, I've got to train interceptors up before I get into a dictor.

Yeah implants are a bitch to lose. Right now I got about 6 mill skills points and a set of standard implants. The constellation im at is all practically low sec too, so there are pirates from time to time at the gates. They are usually solo and cant track worth shit though. isk wise i'm hovering around the 30 mill range so I'm not hurtin too bad. I play under the name Yaturi

btw wispering in the darkness was a piece of cake. I used 8 railguns on my destroyer (seven 150mm and one 75mm gun) with the antimatter and just blitz them. If it got too hot I would load up tungsten charges and snipe em at the 35-40 kilometer range. pew pew muthafuka Now the only lvl 2 missions I cant complete are the human cattle series and recon part 3 1/6/2008 11:46:47 AM |

cool cool If you want to do some lvl 3's i got an agent in weld under command division. I just got into an interceptor today, about 2 hours ago and it is niice. I took down an angel smasher solo just by orbiting it and using 2 guns and a missle launcher. Wasn't touched at all and it went down surprisingly quick. They have some bite to them, but since I cant use mwd yet i'll have to wait to see those uber speeds it can provide. 1/6/2008 4:58:22 PM |

My name is Olmix.
I have alot of questions about Agents. Are level 2 missins "level 2" when you get an agents standing above 2?
Are there certain agents that I should go to, or are they basically all the same?
And how do you find/activate storyline missions? Outside of the tutorial, I haven't seen a storyline mission.
ALMOST AT 1mil SKILL POINTS!!!
HA, I am so uber

nope, level II agents have level: II next to them, depending on the faction and division they are in you have relative standing to them, it has to be at a certain level for them to interact with you at all. same thing with level I agents but the bar is lower, you will want a high quality (15+) (QL:15) agent, as they give you better rewards, and more standing 'points' per mission. its best to upgrade to a level II agent as soon as you can, (you HAVE to use the agent finder online, while you can look for them in space it will take you forever and a day to do it, the agent finder can do it in a few minutes). Level II agents of any quality give you more money, and more standing than any level I agent of any quality.
story line agents just have "Story Line" next to the agent name rather than Level: X, Quality: X
some agents have Event instead.
you can find varieties of all 3 in all divisions for all factions, but you can find them faster using the agent finder http://www.eve-extra.com/ http://www.evegeek.com/ http://eve-agents.com/

Eve Online is an amazing game... I play in a corporation called "The Ninja Coalition" It's the only corp i know of where you can be in a gang of 10 people all flying stealth bombers... combat goes like this
uncloak at same time as other 9-19 ship and simultaneously activate sensor booster lock onto whatever the target was launch missiles laugh as 120 cruise missiles slam into the target completely wasting him in a single strike 1/13/2008 9:14:28 AM |

depending on the fitting, most things short of capitals, command ships set with passive tanks would probably survive, and plated battleships
but it all depends on the tank of the target...

definatly altough when i said laugh as 120 missiles or so hit target that was our combined volley... most stealth bombers carry 3 or 4 launchers that can reach out and touch at roughly 130 Km with decent skills other than that i can kill alot of ships in 2 volleys and the first is mostly killed them 1/13/2008 6:20:07 PM |
Arab13 Art Vandelay 45180 Posts user info edit post |
in most cases most ships don't stick around long enough for you to fire more than once, and at that range, it takes several seconds for the missiles to reach you. a properly fitted blockade runner (t2 industrial with 2 built in warp core stabs, good speed, and good agility) can warp in about 4 seconds, so it wouldn't get hit at all.
but, stealth bombers with a interdicter can be a nasty surprise even for the most prepared 0.0 space inhabitant.... 1/14/2008 9:30:55 AM |
