Pullen Park is pretty awesome for kids, and its free and not to crowded... I'm not sure about the the time slot your interested in, it might be too late and/or cold.

I went to the Marbles museum today and it was super fun. It can definately be an all day thing so maybe if you have him on a weekend, you could go there. Its pretty cheap too, $5 a piece.
