maybe the police department knew that the husband was home and called him to get the kid. and then they let him out with a lower bond so he could finish the job.

I'm torn. Part of me thinks that no one should take the law into their own hands. But another part of me thinks the kid learned a much better lesson than he would have in county jail, assuming he finally ended up there.
