I still WISH I was in the SEC AND I have southern pride. Plenty of other people I know in NC have the same thing. 1/17/2008 11:36:26 PM |

Best post in the thread so far. This thread is interesting though. Take it serious or get out.1/18/2008 1:15:05 AM |

Clemson actually rejected a couple football players for academics last year...and Butch Davis took them. Tommy Bowden almost spontaneously combusted. 1/18/2008 1:24:51 AM |

You have to be a fucking idiot not to get into Clemson as an athlete. I went to highschool with 2 guys who went there to play football, and they were dumber than bricks. 1/18/2008 1:54:01 AM |

I'm gonna go out on a big, fat, short comfortable limb...
And suggest that any piece of shit asshole who makes a thread like this is not fucking fit to decide who is dumb as a brick.
I can't believe any of you fuckers would put down Clemson. And you want Vanderbilt instead?

Growing up a Vandy fan, I definitely have some interest in this thread. See, here are the problems with this, aside from the obvious one that two schools from two of the biggest conferences are never likely to just switch...
Vandy also has been in the SEC from the beginning and even though some Vandy fans have wanted at times to get out of the conference because of football, there is no way the school would give up the revenue that they get from the conference as well as the exposure. Now a move to the ACC really wouldn't make sense for Vandy, but I think your thought was that it would make more sense because of getting another football power into the SEC...and that is true.
As far as basketball goes, there is plenty of tradition with Vandy basketball and even though they are a small, academic school, they are respected I would say by the other SEC schools in basketball. You look at Wake and Duke, two small academic schools around the same level and you can see that there is no reason Vandy can't keep elevating the program to that level. It's just that they are usually behind Kentucky and Florida in their division...and that is why this year was a good opportunity, but they dug too big of a hole at Kentucky and got worn down in the second OT, and their weak defense combined with not having played a team that pressures like UT really exposed their weaknesses last night. Anyways, that is my defending Vandy rant, and I really do think it's true that other schools in a weird way embrace Vandy as a SEC school and they fit more than most people think they do.1/18/2008 9:33:15 AM |

yeah. I don't want to have LSU, Miami, Tennessee, Alabama, or Auburn as a rival anytime soon.1/18/2008 10:01:11 AM |

^Miami? You mean UF?
I would trade a bad football record for a good chance at being the best basketball team in conference. 1/18/2008 12:40:08 PM |

Yeah, teams never leave one conference for another.
BC, VT and Miami have been in the ACC for decades
And yes, I am aware conferences just don't trade teams, but its a hypothetical, I don't think anyone expects something like this to ever happen.

The point is, Vandy is far far far from being the typical SEC school. It is almost a perfect fit for the ACC. Not that the ACC would really want them, but you can see what I mean.

well, it would be the only school in a land-locked state -- it being the atlantic coast conference and all
of course if conferences were concerned about minor naming conventions, ohio state would be playing in the big eleven1/18/2008 5:08:46 PM |

If any ACC team should join the SEC, it's Clemson.
I personally think Arkansas should be sent to the Big 12, Baylor sent to a conference like Conference USA, and Clemson takes Arkansas's spot. The ACC could then add a school like UConn or Syracuse (although I'm sure UNC or Duke would cry like bitches again if that happened).
Also Iowa State doesn't really fit into the Big 12 either, but they don't really fit anywhere. 1/18/2008 11:19:38 PM |
