would you call big10 basketball "clearly the highest level of play on the planet (by a longshot)"? i wouldn't.

The point was it was an exhibition game...top 10 team against D-II.
If the game meant anything MSU wins by 30. 1/21/2008 2:02:20 AM |

so NBA players arent the best in the world? if that's what you think then go ahead.
"exhibition"....so I'm sure they werent playing their hardest or their best players the most minutes. But It was a big deal for the European teams.and if they were using FIBA rules, NBA players were at a disadvantage.
Using this logic then because App State beat Michigan we could say that the SoCON is better than the Big Ten. 1/21/2008 2:02:27 AM |

^ you're not even reading what i'm posting.
nba players are the best in the world, w/ few exceptions, b/c the nba pays the most. the nba as a league is a bastardization of basketball, and is not "clearly the highest level of play on the planet (by a longshot)".
i'm not saying that european leagues are necessarily better, but they can hang w/ nba clubs, which is evidence that the nba is not "clearly the highest level of play on the planet (by a longshot)". just like the big10 is not the highest level by a longshot in either football or basketball. 1/21/2008 2:14:45 AM |

I guess that makes a little more sense. I'm just not sure how the best players, the best coaches and the biggest stage isn't basketball. Just sounds like one of those completely incorrect (and suspiciously racist) "those thugs don't play defense" arguments.
I personally think that because of the length of the 3pt line, NCAA basketball is actually a worse form of basketball in terms of a particular rule altering strategy 1/21/2008 2:31:35 AM |
