In 9th or 10th grad Health class at my high school we had a sex-ed workshop. They actually showed us how to put a condom on and explained the benefits of all sorts of contraception... I just don't get the "if we don't talk about it, it will go away" stupidity of solely teaching abstinence.

yes so the decline in teen pregnancy might be happening independent of abstinence only sex-ed. apparently its a hard concept to grasp though, cause they keep on preaching about abstinence.

but there was a preggers girl in my 7th grade class, so i'm pretty sure just handing her a condom or some BC would have been more effective than "just say no" (oh wait, that was drugs)

edit: ^ yea i went to private school in 9th grade and one of the only good things they did was a more rigorous sex ed seminar. re: contraceptives and stds.
