^ how about:
Hennessey SRT700 Challenger
7 litre V8 725 hp 750 lb-ft
0-60 mph in 3.5 sec 190 mph top speed
Quote : | "Since there's no replacement for displacement, Hennessey adds extra cubes to the 6.1-liter V8 with a stroker crankshaft, pushing it out to 426ci. For good measure, a 67mm turbocharger system is added as well, complete with an air-to-air intercooler. Forged aluminum pistons, forged steel connecting rods, high-flow cylinder heads, and a 3-inch exhaust system are also added, among other upgrades. The result is a tire-shredding horsepower increase of nearly 75% – 725 bhp @ 5200 rpm and 750 lb-ft @ 4000 rpm. Hennessey claims it's good enough for the Challenger SRT8 to hit 60 mph in 3.5 seconds (with the optional drag radial tire upgrade) and top out at 190 mph. " |

Dodge Challenger SRT8 sports G-meter, built-in 0-60 timer
Quote : | "Such is the case with Dodge's new pony car, which apparently comes equipped with an "SRT-exclusive Reconfigurable Display" (RCD). What does that mean? Well, you can customize the readout at the bottom of the SRT8's 180 mph speedo to display 0-60 acceleration times, 60-0 braking times, 1/4-mile times and g-forces to see if your numbers and Dodge's agree. According to the video after the jump, you can also log your best runs and see how you faired at a later (read: safer) time." |

I didn't realize these things were out on the road yet. I took a picture of one in Queens/New York with a Detroit "manufacturer" license plate. Comments? Ahmet 5/8/2008 1:46:07 AM |

i think the first few are probably trickling in to their respective dealerships now. i'm sure they're all spoken for, but a few may pull a little showroom time before going home. the rest will get prepped, detailed, etc. and off they go. the projection was mid 2008 i believe, and we're just about there.
oh, and bfd on the computer thing. while i'm sure it's more accurate than most, cars have had those sorts of gadgets since the early 80's. hell, my c5 will spit out more useless data than i ever imagined possible for a 10 year old car. more than most brand new cars except for c6's of course and various other luxury/performance models.
anyway, i would still do very bad things to own a challenger. if they bring a drop top srt8, you're going to see me lose my shit and take one for the team on a selling frenzy.

They're definitely releasing a Challenger convertible, so my money would be on there being an SRT-8 version.
looks like you're in deep shit Ivan, lol. 5/8/2008 12:20:33 PM |

These guys got to drive one before it was delivered to the customer. I have no idea who owns it. Some nice 70s rides too.

I'm really skeptical of gimmicky factory gauges like that. Reminds me of the gee-whiz shit on the 80s Z cars. 5/9/2008 10:28:14 AM |

Your tax dollars at work, border guards hold up traffic to check out Challenger
Quote : | "If any of you were stuck in traffic trying to get through the Detroit Windsor tunnel late last week, we may now know why. There was no major international incident or terrorist crackdown happening. Apparently, Chrysler Canada CEO Reid Bigland grabbed a fresh-off-the-line Dodge Challenger SRT8 and headed over to Detroit from his office in Windsor, Ontario. Agents of the Customs and Border Protection Service decided they wanted to check out Chrysler's new muscle car. Several agents spent time going over the new Challenger and asking questions about it rather than processing travelers through the downtown Detroit border crossing point. Traffic quickly got backed up and according to Bigland there was about an hour delay by the time the agents let him proceed. Oh, and they never even asked for Bigland's ID." |
Hour... that's fucked up. If I had some real fancy desirable car (no, NOT a challenger), sure I would let people admire it and crowd around it for a few minutes frequently. But an hour delay? Fuck that, no matter who was doing the admiring. Especially not cops.
And the cops... fuck them for being inconsiderate.
