Yeah, but I'm get to drink more than 10 dif types of beer, so I get my money's worth.

i was basing that completely on consumption volume.

i'm sure you'll get your money's worth taste/quality wise and actual alcohol volume wise (factoring in high abv beers).

but i still think after everyone gets there and it gets crowded and you get a stomach full of beer it'd be hard to keep a steady 15 sample/hr pace.

i'm not being a negative nancy here, just a concerned consumer. (no pun intended)

Also, I could have sworn it was $35 for Raleigh last year and $40 for Durham. Maybe not, though.

I also think the atmosphere at beer fest is worth something. Everyone's so happy, more so than normal drunk bar people. Like at the Durham one some guy gave me a hat he'd gotten, which I was really happy to get for a little while until I realized he gave it away because it was annoying, and then I gave it to someone else, and she looked like I made her day.

And, guys can get away with putting stickers all over random girls. Or at least the ones I went with did that. That's got to be worth a few bucks, right?

when i first went, tickets were like $25. i think for two years it was that price. then they raised it.

but yeah, you def. get your moneys worth.

like people have said, its more than just the beer. its like a huge party.

the key is to not really drink all of the 2oz of beer they give you. i mean if you like it, yeah drink it. but what i do is just take a sip and toss the rest on the ground.

some vendors will pretty much pour you a whole glass.

if you are worried about if the quantity of beer you are drinking makes it worth the money, maybe the beer festival isn't for you.

the point of the beer festival is to try new beers that you haven't had the chance to have. not to go out and get shitfaced.

now of course i say that but I do end up leaving the beer festival shitfaced pretty much every time.

^ Didn't some people on here last year say they were just going to camp out by the Miller Lite (or some other cheap beer) stand the whole time?

Everyone has different reasons, though I actually have to wonder who hits the PBR, etc. stands at all.

^well i understand.

but when you go every year, you pretty much know whats good and stuff.

i mean, if tickets get up to like $60 a person, i dont think i could do that, although its only like twice a year. but at this rate it seems like not only every year it goes up in price, but every festival the price changes.

i agree that if you've been once or not at all, and you are a fan of beer. its worth every penny to go out there and try beers you probably wont find in raleigh for a while

i'm not going with the sole purpose of getting plastered. the reason i'm going is to try new beers. but that doesn't change the fact that everyone still has a limit to what something's worth to them. i'm not going to pay $75 to try some new beers.

how about this. you have no idea how much or how little you'll drink since you've clearly never been before. go find out for yourself. you will get your moneys worth.

^^ is spot on. you will be drinking beer continuously for 4 hours. if you can't get drunk in 4 hours then maybe you should go to the 2008 Detox Festival instead.

trust us, you will have more than a blast.
unless you drink too much and get in trouble.

last year, if you were the first few to get in, they gave out free t-shirts and big ole sparks glass, kinda looked like a graduated cylinder.

there are lots of free beer bottle openers and crap too

i got to the durham festival almost 2 hours early (going to the evening session). the fence was wide open so i just walked myself in there with a friend (they had the fence open for people to leave the afternoon session). we had our share before the festival even started.

6 hours of sampling beers.

i still have some magic hat condoms they gave out last year

they tried to give me a la fin du monde metal poster last year but i had an awful experience with that beer so i gave it to somebody else

and the beer is awesome, but as other people have said, the atmosphere is even better

also, if you are one of those guys who likes to fight when you get drunk, please stay at home. at the durham event this past fall i saw a guy almost fight a volunteer not 2 minutes after getting in the gate. they bumped into each other or something, it was ridiculous.

i think it was last year in the raleigh fest,

but the draft house that sponsors the festival was giving out free shirts as long as you wear them.

all they had were smalls, so me and a friend threw them on with some balloons underneath and got a pic. but i have yet to find the pic

Heh, I just checked last year's thread, and it was you:

Quote :
"i'm looking forward to the budweiser booth... all the bud i can drink. you will find me there the entire time!"

Some people really do love those beers, though
