If you guys are talking so much about those SEC schools cheating, what's to say that UNC and Duke aren't? 3/14/2008 3:52:14 PM |

any program that isnt doing well will claim that programs that are doing well are cheating. It stupid, childish, juvenile bullshit that most people out grow... but some dont.
"waa waa, you are better than us, you cheat! I'm taking my basketball and going home"

if the NCAA looked into it for 3 years, THREE years, and found nothing, then they must be.... GUILTY!
your logic is perfect. I cant challenge that. 3/14/2008 4:01:21 PM |

I would guess most major schools commit some violations. An example of shady activity at Duke,
Quote : | "According to the Times-Picayune's Josh Peter, in the summer of 2000 Vivian Harper, mother of Duke incoming freshman point guard Chris Duhon, moved from her home in Slidell, La., to a two-bedroom apartment in Durham, N.C. She was given a job at a firm called NCM Capital Management Company, a billion-dollar money management firm owned by a man named Maceo Sloan, among whose possessions is an autographed basketball signed by the 1991 Duke championship team, Coach K's first title squad. Workers at the firm say the job was never posted. They also allege that Harper was given a substantial raise within four months.
There's more. Peters also reports that Carlos Boozer Sr., the then-unemployed father of former Duke star Carlos Boozer, was given a job at GlaxoSmithKline, a pharmaceutical company owned by Robert Ingram, who is a close friend of Coach K's. In order to take the job, the elder Boozer relocated from Alaska. " |

^^ so if they are so good about covering it up how did the Private Investigation firm of TreeTwista Inc. discover it? and why did you withhold your "smoking gun" from the NCAA?

HA, look who is talking.
and is it "blatantly obvious" or "cunningly covered up", you keep flip flopping on that
and for the 3rd time, we established that there is just a SLIGHT difference between a criminal trial with a jury of random people and a board or committee formed by a group for the sole purpose of examining a team that they think might be in violation. They wouldn't be looking at the school unless they thought something was there, so if a school is found innocent then its saying a lot.

as I said, since you know they are guilty, pass along your secret dossier to the NCAA since apparently they didnt have enough evidence to find them guilty.
and UNC has the #1 in the east. Tenn will get the #1 in birmingham 3/14/2008 4:42:34 PM |

I seem to recall a coach of theirs being forced to resign within the last month because of NCAA violations.

Flagship university of the State, have pretty much everything except Pharmacy grad school (which is Memphis). The system there isnt really setup like it is in NC. Tennessee Tech is "technically" haha the engineering school, but UTK has a bigger and better college of engineering.
If you go to college in Tennessee it pretty much breaks down like this (in really really broad terms)
anything medical aside from pharmacy = Vandy pharmacy = Memphis teaching = Austin Peay if you are black = Tennessee State farming shit = UT-Martin everything else = UTK

^^^^I'm not saying big time schools don't ever get punished, I'm saying the NCAA is less likely to severely punish major programs. A coach resigning doesn't really fall into this category. No scholarships were taken away, and they are still eligible for the post season. 3/14/2008 6:40:10 PM |

its high but nothing retarded. Funny thing is that even with the tuition being a TON higher than UTK it would have been cheaper for me to go there, they offer a lot more scholarships than UTK (which doesnt have to because everyone wants to go there). But I wanted to do engineering and it was better than Vandy in that area. 3/14/2008 7:34:28 PM |

This was a good game for them, it will make pearl bitch at them for being weak and pathetic. They will be hungry from now on hopefully because of this loss, not locking the SEC auto bid, and most likely dropping down from a 1 seed.
ARK (who is in most likely) or UGA is getting an auto bid, but tommorow I have to root for UGA. Not only would they lock up the auto bid with 3 wins in 27 hours, but they would be the team I root for the rest of the tourney beside TN.

Great article on StateFans about Pearl.
Quote : | "* Pearl has a huge connection to NC State as he was once married to a woman related to Norm Sloan (niece? cousin?) He brought is UW-M team to the RBC a few years ago and openly praised the tradition and history of the NC State program. Many close to him and familiar with the situation felt as though he was launching trial balloons and signalling his obvious interest for NC State to be the place where he would take his next step.
