I said you SEEM like one - because you're bashing Obama simply for attending a black Church.

You seem to hate any POV that isn't yours, and you seem to think you're better than everyone else.

re: the LOL that you put every 5 words in you posts. Are you laughing out loud that much? Is this really that funny to you?

substitute a white minister for Wright and substitute a white power message and most of the people on this message board sing a whole different tune, and they know it.

the hypocracy is laughable.

^^ That's partially because whites actually control the damn country.

We're not an oppressed group. This makes a dramatic difference. Context is key.

In America, black power is revolutionary while white power's reactionary.

The same goes for straight pride stickers.

terp, yes I find alot of what I read on here very funny.

If you think Im bashing Obama for going to a black church, you have really missed the boat on my arguement. Im questioning his "judgement" to be associated with such a person.

I actually like different POVs as long as they are reasonable, thoughtout, and have some facts to support them. I like hearing where other people are coming from.

Okay, are you questioning McCain's judgement also? Or is being associated with Hagee (Anti-Catholic) and Parseley (calling for a Holy War against Islam) not as bad?

^ hey, any credible sociologist will disagree with you on that one - but believe what you want. Ignorance is bliss right?

^^^^ Umm... no.

Does it make sense for a white person to talk about how our gov. once counted them as 3/5ths of a person? Does it make sense for a white person to talk about how they couldn't vote or own land or go to school once upon a time?

You can't just say he's a racist because if a white person said the same thing, they'd be racist, because if a white person said what he was saying, it'd come out as gibberish.

Racist are people who judge people negatively based on their skin color. Wright isn't trying to get the blacks to hate the whites, or separate from them like your type white-power advocate, he wants his black parishioners to try and do better for themselves, despite the socio-economic structure they live in that was crafted by anti-black policies up until the 60s.

"and considering Obama is a politician, its not unreasonable to think he's completely full of shit in his denial of ignorance and in general he is only saying what he feels are the safest things to say before the election

but when you said "especially Cheney" thats the point I'm making...Cheney isn't the President....you want to say "Wright isn't running for President" as if only things that Obama says are fair game...but Cheney isn't President...sure he's an elected govt official...but who is to say Wright wouldn't get at minimum an advisory role on Obama's cabinet? Aren't we supposed to evaluate the candidates during the campaign to find things like this out before its too late?

"

Yeah, if you read my post, I never said Obama wasn't aware of some of wright's statements, by Obama's own words, it's clear he was generally aware.

My point was that you don't have any actual instances where the president was impugned merely for an association with someone. The things people have called the pres out on are mostly things that there's evidence that he's supported or actually used his power as president to enact.

On top of that, i'm saying that the things wright is saying aren't as bad as people are making them out to be, and if hooksaw would use his brain to think rather than come up with lame nicknames, he'd see that Obama is distancing himself from Wright because he's running for president, and it's not politically advantageous to fight for Wright, when it's MUCH easier and simpler and of little consequence to Obama's actual campaign to just ditch wright.

Quote :
"so moron and terp. Saying that the govt created HIV to kill blacks isnt racist?"

It's pretty retarded, but it's not racist. A racist statement would be "white people have never done any good, just look at how they injected the blacks with AIDS" or something along those lines about the cause of their deed being a result of their skin color.

i still think attacking obama for what wright said is very similar to a lot of the threads in TSB over the last 7 years...i dont know how you could read through TSB over the years and not see dozens and dozens of threads where somebody slightly associated with Bush gets in trouble and you have a string of posts with typical "omg fuck bush" type rhetoric, regardless of what actualy role Bush had in what happened, or regardless of his knowledge of what happened

and now that the shoe is kind of on the other foot its funny to see some of the same people who were quick to blame Bush for anything bad that slightly related to him, now quick to adamantly defend Obama for any possible wrongdoing or knowledge of what all Wright has said over the years

as a non-voter i'm laughing my ass off (inside)

I'd be happy if you found at least 1 thread with a clear example of what you're describing. I can't think of any situation Bush has been in where people were bashing him because he knew someone. wanting your parishioners to do better for themselves is one thing. lying to them about the evils of white people starting HIV or whatever other BS he is spewing is another and is just like salisburyboy.

NO DIFFERENCE. no matter how you try and rationalize it.

TreeTwista10 is absolutely right. at least have the gumption to admit you feel differently in the double standard because he is a black man. that would at least explain it.

^x7 So Obama "threw the guy under the bus," huh? Way to support a friend, pastor, and advisor. GG.

Obama sat in that church for about twenty years--so he claimed. Do you honestly believe that he never heard some of these anti-White, anti-American, and generally hate-filled rants? To do so stretches credulity to the breaking point.

But let's look at "Reverend" Wright: he's not running for anything--more like he's running from his own words. If he truly stands behind all this bile that he spewed forth, why doesn't he come out and defend himself instead of skulking off into the shadows.

Apply your brain, which could probably power a Casio wristwatch, to that.

I noted this several days ago here: http://www.thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=518509#11391949 good to see you're starting to catch up. Wright was also a Marine, btw.

Quote :

Ooh, look, someone's not actually reading posts he's responding to. Nothing quoted about wright has been anti-American in the way you think they're anti-American, and hate is at least 50% of American Christianity. And most of what he's said is more pro-black than anti-white. And I also didn't realize you're now an expert on all of Wrights views and sermons.

I'm betting that he's not defending himself because Obama is shutting him up, and he's a small-time reverend of a single black church. No one really gives a damn what he has to say (i don't at least).

Yeah, you can find TSBers to fit any category you want.

But as president and leader of the armed forces, it's bush's job to take responsibility for something like that. I don't think anyone in the MSM ever seriously speculated Bush gave the order to take naked pictures of prisoners. It's not Obama's job to be responsible for what everyone who works for him, or even what his friends say in their own time. I can't imagine the crap I would get if I had to be responsible for my friends' words at my job.

Quote :

Yeah, you're exaggerating here. Considering how close-knit republicans are, it usually IS one of Bush's buddies, but no one literally believes it's Bush's fault (and I think you're making up this scenario anyway).

but blindly defending him isnt as bad as not acknowledging how hypocritical some of you are being compared to past threads...i'm not trying to say every single person in this thread is guilty...but god damn how fucking forgetful are you people if you don't even realize that this is the same shit thats happened to Bush in threads over the last few years...if you honestly cant see the similarities...well then your political blinders are on pretty tight

^x5 The latter first: Nobody cares what Wright says? Look at the threads here; look at the media coverage--I mean, this situation trumped another Democrat sex scandal; and look at how Obama's candidacy has been seriously damaged and almost derailed by this.

So Obama's trying to hide something (GASP!)? Sounds like old-time politics to me--I thought Obama was about "change"?

I don't care what TSBers believe. It's THE MEDIA in this case making seem like obama is responsible for this guy, when he's not. The media has done a lot of stuff to various politicians over the years, including Bush, but this is the first time they're using this tactic.

This is not a shoe-on-other-foot scenario. This is a combination of Wright saying dumb things, the media being opportunistic, and people being racist.

^^^^^^ LOL

I can watch The History Channel and find "experts" doubting the Pearl Harbor story. As to the other quotes, you took them out of context there.

If that's the best even Fox could dig up, then this Wright guy is far more tame than I initially thought.

Quote :
"as if Bush got preferential treatment by the media or something? which again goes back to my double standard, and wondering why people can't see it"

Bush got enormously preferential treatment by EVERYONE for a good few years following 9/11. He's far from a victim. He blew his own public image after 9/11 with his own dumb actions.

I don't see how you can say there's a double standard between someone whose been president for the past 8 years, through some amazingly historic times, and Barack Obama.

You're missing the point. Wright, who admittedly has said some dumb things, is being painted as this horrible monster based on very small handful of statements, mostly taken out of context, which is bad enough for the media to do, but on top of that, they're trying to make it seem that Obama secretly believes this as well.

You don't think Bush or McCain or Hillary have friends equally as shady, if not more than Wright? The only difference is that, since they're not preachers, the dumb things they said weren't put in a youtube friendly format.

Terp, reread what I said. Basically hagee supports mccain. Obama supports Wright.

Does McCain go to hagees church for 20yrs, marry him, baptise his children? Besides, everyone should be upset about the GD america.

You know Charles manson can endorse whoever he wants. But if I praise him in a book, call him my sounding board, and follow the man for 20 yrs... then you have every right to question me.

btw, not comparing wright to manson, just an example.

have you ever actually been to a church? This is one of wright's more innocuous statements when taken in context.
