there isn't any easy way to do an LS1 in an S2000 yet. there are a couple of custom fabs in progress--i don't think anyone's completed it, yet.
the Supra engine is killer, but i bet it costs a lot, and i bet it weighs a lot (and it's long--i bet it would hurt the weight distribution. the best bet right now for an S2k is forced induction on the original engine. there are several good options now, both turbo and SC. you can make it pretty powerful without digging into the engine, although making real monster power at least requires work on the top end...also, add at LEAST another $1000 for beefing up the rear diff.
plus, with that route, you keep the S2000's shifter, which is the best in the biz. Ever. 3/23/2008 2:51:00 AM |

oh, and i take it that if you don't want to build cars for yourself, you definitely don't want to help me with one! 3/23/2008 2:54:41 AM |

oh, nah i'm still down for that for sure. i'm just thinking my particular situation already owning what might be a desireable car to them. it might work out better to trade my c5 and have them do the work in exchange vs. me going through the hassle of selling it, parting it, or whatever. i might come out better dealing with getting rid of the c5 myself, but not enough that it's worth the hassle. 3/23/2008 2:59:38 AM |

yeah, bird in the hand and all
not to mention cost of time
and i don't know for sure what i'm gonna do, and i'm fairly certain it won't be until about this time next year when i get back from the sandbox, but that LS1-RX7 bug has been after me for a while now. 3/23/2008 3:01:25 AM |

So, here's the plan.
1. Find a blown FD for cheap. 2. Put an LS1 in it for $8500 3. ???? 4. Profit? 3/23/2008 2:38:47 PM |

An LS with the s2k transmission is a good idea. I cant see how there wouldn't be room for it. There is a 2 foot deep intake box taking up the majority of the engine bay.
I would think doubling the torque output of the stock power plant is going to break things but guys with turbos seem to be running way too much torque on a routine basis. 3/24/2008 7:33:14 AM |
