It's important to keep trying for something that will work for you. Your body chemistry is unique so you can't rely too much on the advice of others. And you should also keep in mind that there isn't always a perfect drug. You may just have to put up with the side effects.
And if you can't tolerate the side effects, you're gonna have to do this thing drug-free.
I fourth booze as an option. But you'll have to manage that and handle the side effects just like with your prescription drugs. 3/27/2008 12:16:04 AM |

When I was first having these problems I was coming off of wanting to drink at all from drinking pretty heavily/regularly for quite some time. I'm sure reality slapping me in the face after drinking so much has something to do with how I got to where I am. 3/27/2008 12:25:35 AM |

^^^Boozetown and Benzoville aren't that far apart.
It sounds like the drugs aren't working for you. You might should try Sober City, which boasts such conveniences as diet, exercise, and meditation.
Regardless, life sucks wherever you choose to set up camp. 3/27/2008 12:42:57 AM |

well if your anxiety is severe enough you could try haldol or thorazine - I know most doctors wont prescribe it but my husband (who had some serious traumatic experiences in his childhood and still dwells on them) tried ativan at first, they went up to 10mg every 6 hrs, which didn't work, then klonopin 4mg every 4 hrs didnt work (this is while he was on prozac and abilify and trileptal and cymbalta) - his anxiety seemed to get worse
so they put him on thorazine - they gave him 2 different scripts - 1 for the 25mg if hes just a little anxious - and 1 for 200mg just in case hes about to lose it and be placed in an institution (and of course it knocks him the fuck out) - works for him, not sure if it would work for anyone else, but my husband is tolerant to EVERYTHING 3/27/2008 12:44:52 AM |

Holy shit, that's some serious antipsychotics for...anxiety???
I wouldn't want to imagine what he's going through...
it sounds like they're just using your husband as a test subject

yeah I would say so, cant really help it though, hes 90000X worse without any meds (I think its all psychological (obviously) but what I mean is that he thinks he feels better by taking meds) - the thorazine has worked though, just doubt anyone else I know would take it for anxiety lol
but personally, ive been prescribed ativan for my anxiety and i refuse to take it, i feel a lot better knowing i can control myself without meds because the more meds you take, the more youre going to make your body depend on them to feel *normal*
the best advice i really can give is to try your best to go without any anxiety meds, try to deal with situations the best you can first, then if you think youre gonna flip, have backup

TD is a huge risk with any of those.
I think I asked once if anybody had used those for anxiety. I think some people may, but at that last mg you said, it seems crazy.
btw you should check out the med programs around here; Duke UNC have studies where they pay you for taking stuff like that sometimes...
