lol, the guesses here are hilarious.

Virus decided to take up residence in my brain. Am currently on some strong meds to try to get it under control. That's the best that over a dozen docs could come up with.

The numbness, tingling, balance issues, tinnitus, and fatigue are bad enough, but the cognitive dysfunction and impaired short term memory make it kind of hard to study sometimes.

THE herp is HSV2.

Also in the family is HSV1 (cold sores), EBV (mono), HHV6b (roseola), etc.

Mother fucking piece of shit specialist has not returned my emails or calls. And I've sent at least a half dozen emails to multiple people in his office over the last week. Even more calls, they didn't turn off the answering machine so it's been going straight to voicemail for the last week.

I'm gonna get kicked out of grad school because of this shit. It's unreal the shit I have to put up with because only 3 specialists in the whole fucking country take my insurance and are familiar with the treatment I'm getting.

lol, I was diagnosed at UNC student health. There's only one doc at NCSU that'd even see me, and she refuses to write any sort of note whatsoever since she wasn't the "diagnosing physician" even though I've been in there to see her 4 times this semester I think.

My only option left is to stop by counseling tomorrow and convince them the stress is making me crazy. What the hell, it's worth a try. Maybe I'll even get some good pills that will make me not care about what's about to happen.

How much detail do I give to get a note but not locked up?

I'm thinking mentioning general thoughts might be good, planes, SUVs, razors, or rope would get me locked up for sure.

When a prof tells a student they can't make any disability accommodations AND said student should accommodate the TA because she just had a kid and over committed, it's not gonna be pretty. No sir. Especially when said disabled student can't have kids. I will NOT be treated like a second class citizen because I don't have spawn.

And for all you know I am having suicidal thoughts right now. They may or may not involve my two new santoku knives. Can't tell. At least not over the internet. Many people use sarcasm to try and deal with their feelings.

Still no word from my specialist. This is insane, I'm having to sign up for a professional organization and pay the $40 student yearly membership fee just so I can get access to their member list and see if any GPs in the area might be interested in my condition and willing to take over my treatment.

Ok, it's one thing when a doc takes a couple days to respond, but almost 2 weeks and no call or email?!

I was supposed to have some blood work a couple weeks ago that they never sent me orders for either. It's not like I'm just asking them to fill out paperwork. It's kind of important stuff.

acute herp encephalitis doesnt have the greatest prognosis in the world


when someone shows up in a coma for no apparent reason.......we assume and start treating for herpes until proven otherwise.

I've been this way for two years, so I don't think it's acute. Since the serum PCR was negative I don't wanna go to the neuro people because they'll wanna do a spinal tap.
