That's just the way I think it should be. If I were the OP, I would take the dog and give it to a friend that would take better care of it. These sound like the kind of people that would let a dog sleep outside when its really cold out 5/11/2008 9:22:00 AM |

So the dog got loose and got stuck trying to get in my yard again. I kept him for a couple of hours before taking him back, and of course they hadn't even noticed he was gone. I talked to the dog's owner and old him the laws in Raleigh. He then said that he KNEW the law in Raleigh because animal control had already come out there. He was like, "Yeah, I guess I have to build a dog house." Then he took the dog back, put it back on its chain, and I can hear it barking yet again.
So I'm kind of pissed. The guy basically wasn't listening to a single thing I said. I'm thinking the next time it gets loose it might just "run away".] 5/12/2008 12:58:23 PM |

Steal the dog and move away.
Or steal the dog and give it to someone who'll take care of it. If the owner says anything to you, OOPS HE RAN AWAY I GUESS. 5/12/2008 1:02:44 PM |

i agree. next time the pup gets loose and makes it into your backyard - don't bring it back. I wouldn't keep it at your house since they may see it.. but try and rehome it. Hopefully the dog is not microchipped. (yes, I feel rotten suggesting this but considering the situation).
This is the second time it's gotten loose, if they really valued the animal then they'd take better care of it.
however, they may just get another dog and do the same thing.. 5/12/2008 4:49:46 PM |

Actually, I'm not sure what the law is in NC, but up here, even if the dog is chipped, the vet can't do anything if the people who brought the dog in don't want to give the dog back.5/12/2008 5:12:36 PM |

If the dog is still out there tomorrow, I'd call animal control again and have them pay another visit, and do it every day until the situation changes or they take the dog. It costs very little money to get even a cheap ass plastic shelter to tide the dog over until he can "build a dog house". You gave an adult a reasonable warning, now it's time to make him face the consequences of his choices.

The dog isn't out there today as far as I call tell. I didn't hear him last night, either. I wanna find out what happened, guess I'll call animal control a little later. 5/14/2008 1:35:31 PM |

anyone know of a link between those who might post "virtual animal abuse" on the web
and actual animal (including human) abuse irl?
'cause, I'd like for you all to do a little better at condemning people like Kurtis636
who just posted a [cartoon] picture of a man kicking a dog
I'm not saying that that is an egregious crime, or even close to a violation of tww policies
but would any of you (who obviously care greatly about animals,) post something like that?
it's like he enjoys getting a rise out of people who care about animals
(OMG YOU LIKE DOGS? WELL HERE'S A PICTURE OF SOMEONE KICKING A DOG! HA HA HA!)
anyone know who Kurtis636 is irl?
if so, please pm me details (address, full name, etc)
thanks
I'll take care of him myself" |

^^ WHAT THE FUCK?
1. I don't abuse animals. Never have, never will.
2. http://www.thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=525072&page=2#11582458
The reason I posted that picture is because it seemed like people were getting way too worked up about someone trying to get rid of pigeons from around his home. The pic I posted is like the equivalent of Snidely Whiplash tying Nell to the railroad tracks. It was so exaggerated and ridiculous that it couldn't be taken seriously. Sort of a, "settle down folks, we're talking about someone trying to get pigeons off their roof, not a guy going around punting puppies."
3. If 392 really wants to "take care of me" I'll give him my address myself and he can come over any time he fucking wants.

In case anyone's been wondering, they haven't really been leaving the dog out that much. He'll be outside for a couple hours a day, but that's not nearly as bad as what he was dealing with before. Hopefully they learned a little about how to care for an animal. 6/2/2008 6:57:50 PM |

Belated update:
Four or five months after all of this went down, I came home from work to find a dog in my back yard. She was waaaay bigger, but it was definitely the same dog from before. I let her play with my dogs for a while and then yelled at the owner across the fence to come get her back (as previously mentioned, their back yard abuts mine, but you can't walk from one yard to the other). He said he would drive around and come pick her up, and he never did.
I ended up getting her to go back through the fence to their yard, but the same thing happened the next day. And every day after that for about two or three weeks. I ended up letting her stay longer and longer, but eventually it got to be a problem because my dogs were getting out where she had pushed through the fence. I repaired the hole in the fence where she'd been getting through, put her on her side, and thought that would be that.
When I got home from work that night, she was waiting at the front gate to my yard. Long story short, now I have three dogs. 2/1/2009 11:06:08 AM |
