I went and looked at it. Leith Mercedes paperwork for the service as well as the VIN list this as a C240.

synapse: people aren't trolling, this ad is terrible and someone who doesn't know any better is going to get ripped off. i don't have a problem with the guy not speaking perfect english, but if you're making an ad to sell a car in this country where english is still the official language you should at least have your terminology correct. not to mention the model isn't even right and other things don't match up. if i was selling a car in india, i would make damn sure if i couldn't write it correctly myself that i got someone who could. surely this guy has a friend that could do it. or hell, i'll bet money a service writer at the dealership wouldn't mind giving him something after the business he's given them.

i hope it's not the case, but it sounds like this guy is just trying to turn a quick buck before he leaves the country for good leaving little/no recourse for the buyer. he thinks offering it at a "cheap" price, trying to pass it off as a better model, and having a lot of recent repairs done will do the trick. unfortunately for him, us "racist americans" aren't as dumb as he thinks.

bottom line, a lot of things just don't add up here, despite the language barrier. the fact that the seller is so hostile towards anyone doubting him makes it even more suspect. i would ask you to reconsider putting the "hammer down" to anyone trying to bring the facts out.

1) theres no excuse for racism, especially in this section. people start calling him an indian asshole or shit like that, and i'll start locking em up.

2) The facts are already out there. We know its a 240 badged as a 320. What we don't know is who did the rebadging. If someone knew that little tidbit, then that would be "bringing new information" to this thread. Otherwise they're just repeating shit someone else said and accusing him of scamming people (aka not bring new info)

3) I don't see how anyone could get "ripped off", especially after reading this thread. considering the low price, and the recent service work he had done at the dealership, i don't see where the rip off potential is. its not like you wouldn't have your own mechanic look at it, and look over the service records from leith...and probably speak to leith too.

just saw this thread.

i know it has been proved that it is a C240, but just want to point out that it is also evident by the plain-ish wheels and high-profile tires. the C320 comes with sportier wheels and low profile tires.

akoswal, could you please tell us who rebadged it is a C320 and why? and more importantly, did you ever know about it, whether before buying it, or during ownership? thanks.

uh, yeah the facts are out NOW. they weren't when you put your trolling ultimatum out. we also don't know that it's simply been rebadged. there could be a much bigger story behind the car that carfax and/or dealer service reports don't tell.

haha, you yourself were googling up c320 values and claiming it to be a great value. put two and two together from your own post. why would the guy be selling a car for $8500 when trade in is $1500 more? if anyone had heeded your threat of don't post unless you're interested, the facts wouldn't be in the thread now.

also just to note, the price isn't low. it's on the high side of market value.

not that it much matters anyway. obviously the dude has already sold the car, since he's leaving the country today or tomorrow and hasn't posted since lowering the price.
