you will be surprised when it doesn't drop much... i'm 27, 'perfect' driving record, etc etc and mine on the cheap is $972/year (full coverage like brick had)

that's pretty typical rate wise, you get additional cars cheaper and cheaper

State Farm's pretty good. My agent is pretty close to my office and his receptionist knows me by name, knows exactly who I am when I call. They also don't try to sell me house or life insurance, they just made sure I knew that it was available. I pay $93 a month for 2 cars. 7/18/2008 2:28:58 PM |

What do you drive?
I do expect it to drop significantly: old, safe, reliable car female USAA nearly spotless record (one ticket i pled to 9+, aug 07)7/18/2008 2:30:00 PM |

Well, that's the problem.
Seriously though, why would her insurance be so expensive? I'm 23, 3-4 speeding tickets, one failure to stop, one at-fault wreck. I drive a 96 Maxima and have pretty good credit, though. What would cause my insurance to be a fraction of hers? I don't know anything about rates, maybe prep-e could shed some light on the subject?7/18/2008 2:35:16 PM |

^^^^ yeah it's definitely the IE driver surcharge. It really sucks. It doesn't go away completely until you have at least 8 years of being licensed.
despite what people think, insurance companies can't discriminate based on sex or race
and Farm Bureau actually doesn't check credit scores for auto insurance, but they do for homeowner's 7/18/2008 6:42:10 PM |

I haven't been licensed for eight years, does that mean my insurance will go down even more in a few months? It's $250ish/year now. 7/18/2008 7:11:06 PM |

yeah it's 8 years, but the bulk of the surcharge is during the first 3 years, after that it's not nearly as bad 7/18/2008 10:40:52 PM |
