something like 1440 in high school, I probably should have filled out the paperwork for the testing modifications I was eligible for (extended time) 'cause I know it cost me a few on the math

These tests are so dumb. They try to predict how well you'll do in college. My room mate sophomore year got a 1490 and failed out the next year. I was really glad to read that Wake Forest won't be looking at it anymore.

Bingo. I got into Tulane University. So it was go to State for free or go to Tulane for $12,000/year after the grants and scholarships. It seemed a pretty obvious choice to me.

There are reasons to pick NC State, sure. But what did you make out of your college? If you come in with awesome HS grades and a kick ass SAT score, you have potential to completely blow the fuck out of college, epically at State, I think we have a lot of opportunities to do something really practical and incredible.

But instead, these people probably join scholars programs, hang out with their other 'smart' friends, do a major that's plenty easy for themselves... by the time those same people graduate, at least in my experience and by my own measure, I'm not classifying them as 'smart' anymore.

That said, most people here certainly recognize how pointless SAT scores and the like are.
