My HTC Mogul is spectacular with a $10 a month unlimited data plan or the onboard WiFi.

Commonly run applications:
Opera Mobile 9.5b
Google Maps w/GPS
TomTom GPS Navigation with audible directions
SlingPlayer Mobile (I have a slingbox on my DVR at home)
VNC (controls my work PC from the road)
Skype (for international calling)
FTP Client
Office Mobile
TCPMP (plays DivX movies, whatever the size)
Flashlight
My favorite game right now is Worms
