First off it was Byron Russell....lol....he was one of my favorite players because I liked his attitude.

Second I know you love hating on Nash but my God the Shaq he got was just a little bit slower and older than the one Kobe had.

Third Scottie Pippen is better than 3 Lamar Odoms.

yeah i always get confused to whether or not its byron or bryan...either way he's not exactly the defender that pierce is

and yeah thats why i didnt like the shaq trade for the suns and didnt think they had a chance to win anything...i'm surprised shaq held up in miami long enough for them to win a title

That Shaq for Marion trade might be the worst trade since Vlade for Kobe....

No, the worst one happened right around the same time as Shaq/Shawn... it was when Pau Gasol was traded to LA for Kwame Brown/Javaris Crittenton.

That's nowhere near as bad as Divac for Bryant.

^^kobe outright said he wouldn't play for any team other than LA. So the hornets took him, just to get something from the Lakers.

To quote Chuck Amato:

"Statistics are for losers"

The fact that Vince Carter is in that list makes it bad....

The only numbers I care about are the FG percentages. And Jordan was better. He was a better shooter, consistently, than Kobe has ever been. He played better defense than Kobe ever has.

Jordan was a lot of things, but a better shooter wasn't one of them.

While Jordan's overall FG percentage is higher (because that's what dunking over unathletic white guys will net you), Kobe's career free throw percentage and three-point percentage are both higher than Jordan's.

Kobe is definitely a better shooter than Mike

but other than that MJ has him by a small margin

Defense: very close
Ball-handling: both are good but not great
Clutch: Both are pretty damn clutch
Passing: Both can be good but both are shoot first
Shooting: Kobe
Rings: MJ
MVPS: MJ

If Jordan is the best player of all time then Kobe will finish his career as the second best.

Jordan will be better simply because he won so much.

LeBron is quickly moving up. Not really close on the shooting consistently, but when he's hot he's on fire. Probably a better finisher around the net than Kobe or Michael. Easily the best passer of the 3. Solid on defense but not as good probably. Keep in mind that he's also only like 22 or something like that so there's TONS of room for improvement still.

Lebrons biggest weakness is his shooting ability

LeBron is going to have to deal with being compared to Magic more then MJ.

MJ is the best ever, and Kobe will not get to #2 on that list unless he wins a title w/out Shaq.

MJ was the better ball-handler and passer. He averaged more assists and fewer turnovers. MJ was also more clutch, considering that he never laid down in the NBA finals the way Kobe did against Boston AND Detroit.

To be fair, MJ never won a title without Pippen I don't think.

In fairness, MJ never spent years passing to Smush Parker and Kwame Brown either.

and kobe never won one where he was the #1 guy (or without shaq, but that is almost secondary)

in fairness, neither of them won a title without Phil Jackson

btw even though Phil Jackson never won a title without either Jordan/Pippen or Shaq/Kobe either, there are plenty of other coaches who have never won a title and they've had stars of their own, so you can't completely take coaching out of the equation

but seriously, you can't truly compare Jordan to Lebron or Kobe or anybody yet until Lebron or Kobe or whoever gets done playing...whats that? Jordan has scored more career points than Kobe? SHOCKING!

also I'd say the Lakers are preseason favorites to win it all next year assuming they keep everyone and add a healthy Bynum to the mix...but again its hard to judge eras

^^It is the stupid fucking media that does that, the NBA is the only sport that has a guy come right out of high school and says he is better than a guy that played 15 seasons...

Kobe is the closest thing to Michael Jordan that we will ever see. Quit Hating on kobe! Lebron is nowhere near jordanesque. He is a whole different beast. Kobe is #2 and that is as good as anyone will ever get.

^^I don't think anybody said Kobe or Lebron was better than Mike when they came into the league...they said more along the lines of "if anybody can be as good or better than Jordan, this guy has the potential

Besides, Lebron was putting up 20/6/6 as an 18 year old against NBA players while at age 18 Jordan was, like most other players, in his freshman year at college. It's pretty much impossible to argue that Jordan at 18 was as good as Lebron at 18

Uh, that was a dunk from a dunk contest.

You know who is good at dunking? Josh Smith.

If you were going to straight-up design the perfect guard it would come out looking like Kobe.

MJ made the game fun to watch.

I'm pretty sure at least 1/4 of the NBA can make that dunk at this point.
