free radicals are basically cell byproducts that can be toxic to the body
your body of course has ways of dealing with the toxins.......detox diets are to help clear out excess toxins that can cause disease.

these toxins can come from excess intake of fatty foods, sweets, baked goods, drugs, refined flours, certain meats, etc.

they have been known to be associated with acne, eczema, arthritis, constipation, diverticulitis, cirrhosis, fibrocystic breast disease, heart disease, obesity, cancer, colds, sinusitis, kidney disease, diabetes, gastritis, pancratitis, tension headaches, gallstones, etc.

to really alieve yourself of these issues it is recommended that you stay away from refined flour, sugar products, caffeine, alcohol, tobacco, and drugs. however, since it would be difficult to eliminate ALL of these from your diet we have these lovely detox programs. it is still recommended that you limit your use of the above substances.

there is really no point in detoxing if you are going to go back to eating cheeseburgers everyday and drinking a case of beer a night. (not that i have anything againt cheeseburgers or beer, i love them both )

oh and i am another person who has no qualifications making health statements

detoxing is retarded. if you eat healthy and exercise on a regular basis you'd be doing more good for your body than not eating for several days in an attempt to flush out shit from your system that you know you're just going to put right back in after you're done with the whole process.
